I have done some research and found out why it might be taking some of us longer to receive our NOA2.  If your gf has had a previous marriage, or if either person has some additional background information that must be checked on...then it drags the process out longer.  If the two people have never been married before and are starting out fresh then their case gets approved quickly.  So, this is some of the reasons why some of us take longer than others.  I just wanted to share this with other VJ members.

Would love to see your sources for this information. I have never heard this before so excuse me if I am doubtful. Of course, common sense tells you that there are now 3-4 names to background check depending on if one has been married or both.

That actually crossed my mind. Both my fiancé and I were previously married. I just submitted a copy of my divorce decree and his annulment papers and kept my fingers crossed. Best of luck to you all!

You're probably right that it applies to some of us 🤣, because my fiance and I are both childless and have never been married before.

I'm hopeful our NOA2 will arrive. I have to train myself to be even more patient than I ever was, because this is just the beginning for a long life of waiting.

It's pretty much laid out in this article to what all goes into background checks and such. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GqCssUcCP0cQhJxMmJY_ewz1hIY_-M5M/view?usp=sharing

Ahh, I've read that before. If you're the author of that, I would like to thank you for compiling useful information into one file like that.

I have been married previously but my fiance has not.  She does have a 9yr old daughter coming as K2....We have 24 year age gap....received NOA2-118 days. When we first applied, we were hoping for Oct-Nov 2019...the NOA2 says good until AUG10, 2019.  4 months to complete the Visa. A councilor could extend that 4 months if necessary.   I don't think there's a method to the madness. Depends on the amount of work, the officer assigned to the case and the man upstairs! My calculations say the interview will  be late June or early July.  6-7 Months total from NOA1

Personally I have a "Global Entry" card.  That background check took nearly 45 days. I highly recommend "Global Entry" for all US citizens traveling abroad that qualify. Upon re-entry the card is the golden ticket to re-entry.  no lines and they pretty much wave you thru customs.  Im sure when the USCIS did my back ground check they saw I had "Global Entry" clearance already and that helped.  For Global Entry Questions:  https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/frequently-asked-questions

Interesting...my fiancé (the petitioner) is divorced also (I’ve never been married)...we got our NOA2 on 16th April (NOA1 was 12th December)...

We were unsure if we’d get an RFE as my fiancé only sent his one pager divorce certificate, rather than the bigger document...however, in California the one pager is signed and dated, so it should be an acceptable document (and it was on this occasion)...but I wonder if ours took a little longer because they were deliberating when reviewing the certificate 🧐.

So just 4 infor purposes for everyone. U know i did call USCIS a couple weeks ago and was told people are lying about early approvals. Well i dont have an approval i have an RFE (i have no idea why) received date is 12/28/18 and my noa1 date is 1/3/19 and i was notified by text and email on new site. Myuscis.gov. so they are working faster. Its bittersweet but im so glad to know they at least touched the case. Well wishes to every1 else 💙.

Like you said: at least somebody touched your case.

I hope you can fix it easily and get an approval soon after.

Yes! We called three times and all time asked straight away T2. Dont loose time for T1. I dont even know why they are there.  Thing was that we also had to amend a bit my address, so my fiance was also checking if they did, as T2 created a ticket.  Call them. As sites most of time are useless and arent updated.

However, i will update my timeline only when we receive hard copy as with USCIS i don't believe till i see it for real :)

Congrats to all those who’ve had their NOA2s! 🙌🏻

I’m still in the anxiously-waiting club but I feel hopeful this will be the week it arrives (NOA1 date was 12th December)...

Some January non-expedited filers are getting theirs start to come through now, so sure ours won’t be long! 🙏

Congrats!

Haha - I’m never normally right when I get a ‘feeling’, so I’m delighted this one was right!

To everyone else still hanging in there...it’ll happen, maybe next week, maybe the week after - but what’s a couple of weeks when you’ll eventually have the rest of your lives together 😍.

We got approved!!!! Tier 1 officer just told me that petition was approved!!! I'm so over the moon! These last few weeks have been rough so I'm so blessed to finally get the news I've been waiting for!

Also, neither websites are updated.
