Now the kink in this is you haven't figured it out. You must trust the process. You use the different tools that are available to you to track when "you might" get your approval at the different stages and other then that it's pretty much elementary. This is a game of who has more patience.

O-D. Is it ok for me to vent that members do not update their profiles so others can chime in and help with any questions that the OP has?

I don't work for the USCIS and I am not aware of anyone here who does either.  So nobody is going to figure this out completely.  Not unless you are on the 'inside'.

I imagine SOME (MOST?) of this has to do with the desk where your petition falls.  Maybe the agent in question has some current petitions that are more complicated so it's delaying him/her from picking up mine and taking a look.  Or... maybe he/she spends more time at the water cooler than others.  Or is perennially late to his/her desk.  Or frequently has 'appointments' during the day.  Maybe someone in/out of prison shares my name and DOB so there's a security background mess to clean up and it will manifest itself to me in time.  Who knows?

Maybe, maybe, maybe.  Whatever the reason(s) I need to opine on this forum because it's frustrating no matter the cause.

You mention patience.  That's all we CAN have.  It isn't like we're going to pull our petitions because it's taking too long.  All we can do is wait.  My timeline is completely updated.  I review it periodically for the 'you mights'.  I go to both the old and new websites and check my status at both.  I run the query tools and monitor the trends (who's got their NOA2, who doesn't).

Yes, the people at the USCIS are humans.  I know this.  They aren't machines.  However, when it comes to trusting the process you are better at that than me.  I don't trust a whole lot about anything.  My past experiences with government entities of any kind hasn't been very good so excuse me for looking askance at this whole thing.  I can HOPE... but trust?  Different story.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC has to work through! When someone gets to your file you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fiancé about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go sports event, and your time will come!

Explanation why is it taking so long.

Maybe they haven't really touched Ukraine yet (only 1 Ukraine December petition was approved).. I can see that some countries are being approved in one day or very close, not always though. You can see that if you set a filter by NOA2 and country.

Possibly but I am not sure what the USCIS process is, if they do things by country, etc.  After a roughly TWO hour wait, I spoke with a so-called Tier 2 officer who, for the most part, was about as much help as a bad case of acne.

However, she seemed to suggest that part of the process is to reach out to the beneficiary's country for information on the person you are sponsoring.  Makes sense.  So maybe Ukraine is a little slow to the trigger in providing information back to the USCIS, DHS, etc. while countries like the Philippines have quick turnaround time.

Who knows?  Maybe after the election later this month Ukraine will start pumping these things out like a Pez dispenser.  One can only hope.

I think I need to take greenbaum's advice and maybe learn how to make pottery,  develop an interest in croquet or knitting USCIS voodoo dolls.

It looks like we're both in the same boat, huh?  Same country, same petition timeframe.  Let's hope we both get approvals REAL soon.

Щасти.  🙂

You mention patience.  That's all we CAN have.  It isn't like we're going to pull our petitions because it's taking too long. There have been some who pulled their peititions and got married and filed the CR-1. Funny, it does happen even when it's explained that they invested both time and money for the K-1.  All we can do is wait.  My timeline is completely updated.  I review it periodically for the 'you mights'.  I go to both the old and new websites and check my status at both.  I run the query tools and monitor the trends (who's got their NOA2, who doesn't). We might have to charge you extra money because you are efficient in your use of VJ.

Well I trust them to give you a decision, but it's on their time and not yours. Everyone has this guarantee. It bugs me when some, not all, complain when they are 1 month into this or something is moving as fast they want. Their are tools to use everywhere that you can pretty much nail a response from USCIS, NVC or the embassy. Most times it's within a Han grenade throw. People here have a tendency to set their sights too high and when it doesn't work for them they naturally have to "fall back to earth" into reality. They get disappointed then they come on here and Pi$$ and moan and occasionally they stomp their feet. I understand where you are coming from but this process does work, hence why I say trust the process.

12/20 and petition for a Ukrainian here too. It seems like I have been punching the F5 key on the USCIS website constantly. Yes it is discouraging to see people in Jan get approvals already, but when I filed I wasn't expecting to hear something till beginning of June, so if I hear anything in April I will still be overjoyed. We are anticipating an RFE as we sent in a jointly signed "intent to marry" letter.

Hopefully any day for all of us! I'm heading over to visit end of April and it would be awesome to get that approval email when we are together!!

I received an RFE dated 4/8/19. They asked for a letter of intent to marry from my beneficiary. No problem with that. My question is how to update my timeline on VJ to reflect rfe date thanks

Привіт Trapper!

Nice to meet you.  Yeah it's discouraging and I suppose I was like you back in December thinking June-ish.  But that was then, this is now.  When I see these December filings all around us getting their NOA2s well that just drives me crazy.  I'm happy for THEM of course but then I say, 'What about ME???!!!'  I hate logging into my USCIS account and seeing that same tired message I first saw Christmas week.  But Greenbaum's right (that smart a**).  The process is the process so you just gotta hang tight as hard as that may be.

You're only anticipating one RFE???  I'm anticipating at least 12.  One for a box that wasn't checked, one for a document that wasn't signed and maybe one just for me being so d@mn ugly!!!

Safe travel later this month.  I unofficially have a trip planned for June but I want to see how things progress with the petition.  I already plan to fly to her for the interview and, pending a visa approval, come back a couple of weeks later to fly her... and her entire stinking wardrobe if she gets her way... back to America.  Three trips in such a short span of time and it''ll be tuna casserole for dinner for 6 months.

Good luck my friend.  Keep in touch and I will follow your timeline.  I have my fingers crossed that we get happy news very soon.  That will be quite awesome if it happens for you while you are out there.

P.S. - I like your profile photo.  Very cool.
