I received an email that our visa has been approved by the NVC and is being sent to the consulate in montreal, I'm curious to know the timeframe from when i would expect to receive something from them... i also want to know if i can send all my furniture down prior to me having my interview and my packet for crossing the border.

I have friends driving down and they offered to bring down all my stuff for me, i know i need a notarized letter and declaration of items but not sure if they will have any issues considering i don't even have an interview scheduled yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Get yourself up to date on what the process is for Montreal by reading from the links below. There are some additional side notes for your attention.

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actually one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

Packet 3: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pdf  And Packet 4 for reference also: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/03/Packet4-MTL.pdf

For all things dealing with the US Consulate in Canada head on over to the subforum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

Get the Canadian K1 P3 letter at http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the P3 as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for you country so that you are up to speed.

HI everyone,

I am slightly confused as to my next step.. below i have attached a letter that we had received and i am confused if i should wait to further receive something from the consulate or if i need to fill out information from https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved/begin-nat-visa-center.html which states to pay fees and choose and agent and such.

There is also the packet 3 which i am not sure if i should start gathering information on or wait ( the link was provided to me in additional thread), do i need to get my security clearance from the RCMP or the Ottawa Police department.

I coud not find much information on this.

Do i start to fill out Ds-160 or again also wait.

Thank you in advance as I'm sure some of you find this challenging, i just want to make sure i have everything required and am following the necessary steps.

I have also checked https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/Default.aspx and was not able to find my application.

You can certainly start the ds160 but may not be able to schedule an interview until your ceac status shows ready.

Thanks... any reason why it wouldn't be showing up on Ceac yet?

Did you track on the immigrant or nonimmigrant tracker? You track on the immigrant one

YMMV
