I am pretty sure I am one of the last ones waiting for my husband's green card to be approved. We were notified in September that we would need to appear for an interview. So we applied for citizenship in December. Our combo interview was scheduled and then de-scheduled thank to COVID. We are now 2 weeks and 5 days from my husband's interview. We're really praying that it doesn't get canceled again.

Hi, did they mail you the rescheduled appointment or they call you over the phone to tell you the date? Thank you.

We first found out about the new date through his online account in the document tab in the citizenship application section. We received a letter in the mail.

Hi, I am a new member here.  I would like to know if there is anyone who is in a similar timeline as mine.

I sent my documents for I-751 on December 24, 2018, and got NOA (18-month extension letter) with my receipt number #LINxxx on February 7, 2019. There has been no new development on my case since then. I haven't even got a notice for my biometrics appointment yet.

I have made inquiries 3 times on my case through e-request and I got answers saying "Biometrics appointments are scheduled based upon set protocol related to each application/petition and/or their associated processing times.  You will be scheduled for and notified of an appointment at the appropriate time." every time.

I understand that the processing time is getting longer. But, It seems most members here have already done biometrics and I have started to worry about my case...

Thank you.

Had a similar situation. I suggest you call USCIS and request to speak to a Tier 2 officer who would look into your case. I didn't get no fingerprint appointment and i was told it was sent to my address which i didn't receive and no update on their site so the the officer confirmed my email address and sent me a copy of my appointment

Thank you for your response and suggestion, niggabells! I will call USCIS and try to request it as you did. Have you done your fingerprint since then, if I could ask?

Does the appointment letter specify it is a combo interview or N-400? Thank you

This particular letter we received is just for the N-400. That said we know we have to appear for an interview, because our I-751 status says "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for an Interview." Also, we were originally scheduled for both an I-715 and a N-400 interview on April 14. We received two different letters...one for I-751 and one for N-400...from our service center with the same date and time for the interview. Of course COVID forced the interviews to be canceled. I am going with my husband no matter what because I would hate not to go and end up extending this process further.

It's great that you have already done your fingerprint. I called USCIS and spoke to a Tier 2 officer. He said it's odd that I hadn't received any biometrics appointment yet, and he sounded like he didn't know why that happened. He suggested to speak to a Tier 2 officer after Application Support Center open on July 13th and to ask about my biometrics appointment then.

Hello,

I've been looking at these forums for years but never posted anything. Reading other people's experiences and advice have been super useful, you guys have kept me busy and gave me hope during the waiting game, so THANK YOU! It's time for me to share my timeline and maybe pass on some useful info :)

Submitted I-751 on December 18, 2018. It's processed at CSC.

Extension letter: Jan 10, 2019.

Biometrics appointment: April 4, 2019.

Fingerprint review completed 2 days after.

RFE: March 1, 2020.

They were looking for more financial evidence because everything was out of date. I also made the mistake to only send evidence from when we opened an account but not from later years. They also specifically asked for financial evidence that we didn't have.

RFE response sent in mid April 2020. I ended up sending things like tax returns since filing I-751, account statements for all accounts (1 per year) and a letter explaining that other financial evidence that was requested are not attached because none of us have them.

Online tracking updated to Response Received a week after I sent it.

Last week my application was approved!

Note: I didn't apply for naturalization.

You might have also noticed that there are multiple ways of tracking your application online with USCIS. (I had to register to the first 2 separately.)

This one gives me a more accurate status (it's up to date) : https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/displayLogon.do

And this one still says fingerprint review completed: https://myaccount.uscis.gov/

And this is the one where you don't need to register: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

Hope this helps and good luck!

EDIT: When I received the RFE there was an envelope attached. It was way too small to add all the requested evidence in it, but at the address it said in red:

Quote

ATTN: RFE

So when I mailed in my response I also put that on the package, and I'm sure it helped to get it processed faster.

Pending 19 months and now 7 months without any update.... fully believe the n400 stalled this process to the fullest of this would’ve been done back in December. Really really regret applying for n400 because at this rate maybe my i751 will be approved in 2021

If you were a Vermont filer put in a service inquiry, the date out of normal processing time is well into February 2019 now. I’ve put in two already and after both they updated the n400. After the first inquiry they finally acknowledged receipt of RFE and after the second a few days ago the n400 changed to we are actively reviewing the case. The service responses always state the i751 is in line with n400 for an interview, so yeah we regret applying together too, but obviously we didn’t expect Covid to happen. completion date is still July 2020 in mount laurel so 20 days will tell, but I have a feeling in 30 days we’ll have to start harassing uscis for an infopass appointment...

My husband and I attended his combo I-751/N400 interview this afternoon in Salt Lake City. The officer was an incredibly kind woman and the first thing she did was comment about how our daughter.

She then asked us questions for the I-751 green card approval:

  • Both: How did we meet?
  • To me: What year were we married?
  • To my husband: How did we deal with the 2 1/2 years we lived apart going through immigration?
  • Both of us: What are some conflicts we’ve had in our marriage?
  • Me: What was it like meeting my husband’s parents for the first time?

She then administered the citizenship test to my husband:

  •  When is the last day to file federal taxes? She joked about during a normal year.
  • What is Martin Luther King, Jr. known for?
  • What is one right of a US citizen?
  • When was the Constitution written?
  • What happened on September 11, 2001?
  • Why does the US flag have 13 stripes?

Sentence he had to read: What state has the most people?

Write: California has the most people.

She asked the questions in section 12. Asked for our daughter’s birth certificate. And said she was approving both. She said he will probably have his oath ceremony the last week of July.

We are so excited and relieved to be almost done with this nearly 6-year journey.
