Update on my case

1. My I-751 was delivered on Dec 05. I did not fill form G-1145

2. On January 09, I went to field office in Sacramento. They registered me to get my biometric done. I went to biometrics office in Sacramento. Came back to field office. They stamped my passport with i551 stamp. It is valid until January 08, 2020.

3. They kept my green card and said they will destroy it.

4. They asked me to wait for new green card in mail

5. They said now I won't receive extension letter

Question

1. I am travelling to different countries in a couple of weeks- Canada, China, India etc. Is i551 stamp enough to re-enter USA?

2. Should I fill form I-131 ?

i wonder why they destroyed your old card?!

1. Yes, a valid I-551 ADIT Stamp is proof of LPR status and enough to re-enter US after a short trip. Although based on other experiences I have read in forums, you may have to go through secondary screening at the port of entry.

Hope this helps!

Ok you guys I think I messed up. I wrote my money order payable to US Department of Homeland Security, but since the name is too long, there’s not enough space on the “pay to” box and so I continued on the next line below where the purchaser is supposed to sign. Can I still send it like that? For my AOS I didn’t sign my name on that line so does it matter that I wrote there? I’m about to send my packet! 😭

I have one question for you! You got your green card through AoS in US or through CR1 process?

Yesterday I called USCIS to make sure the offices are still open next week for my appointment given the recent government shutdown. I was told that they haven’t been affected, in the event that they do the appointment would be rescheduled and I wouldn’t lose status. They offered to sign me up for email and text alerts and have also put in a service request for my NOA1 as apparently it hadn’t been sent.

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

Another question

After you got your passport stamped, did they destroy your green card? or do you still carry expired green card with you?

In most experiences I have read on forums, USCIS keeps the green card if they provide the I-551 stamp on passport.

I have not yet got the I-551 stamp, my GC is valid for another 3 months.

My I751 was delivered the 6th of December.

Dec 10th they cashed the check and sent me a receipt nr via sms.

When checking the status online it says "Case received Dec 19th".

Receipt nr starts with EAC, does Dec 19th mean when EAC center got my application and, if so, does EAC send the extension letter or the dallas lockbox ? I'm assuming the former, but I'm not sure, can anyone confirm ?!

California

NOA1 - 19/01/2016

NOA2 approved - 22/03/2016

NVC status - READY - 20/04, 2016

I mailed by i-751 package on November 26th and my check was cashed December 4, but I have received NO notification of anything! I am nervous because we plan on traveling this summer (July) and I'm worried we won't have the letter in time. What is the number I can call to check on the status of my application? I don't have a case number or anything to go off of.... do I just call USCIS at 1-800-375-5283? I sent in the form for e-notifications but haven't received anything there either... I'm getting nervous!
