My apologies if this is not the right thread for this, if so please point me in the right direction. Does anyone know of an attorney who will review an I-751 for a reasonable cost? My attorney wanted $2500 to prepare mine and I just don't have that kind of money. Is there anyone on these boards who will look at something I've filled in, I see there's a reviews megathread but it's locked preventing further replies.

Do not use an attorney! You can do anything and everything by yourself. This forum has lots of useful resources. If you have a question - just ask, we are here to provide an absolutely free input.

I am using attorney. There are number of factors I had to use her.I had hard time assembling the documents. I know its kinda easy but I was nervous doing it and couldn't afford to make a mistake. Second, I travel a lot so when there is notice on the way from USCIS and I am out of country, my attorney receive it too and she updates me that she got it and here is your appointment. Also, I have a simple assault case ( charges dropped) but I cant afford to take a risk.

My Time line is Updated!

We also did everything by ourselves, including very difficult N-400 appeal for expedited citizenship, which is currently pending. We did use an attorney for a consultation. It is extremely expensive. However, the reason for the consultation was a specific question we could not find an answer anywhere.

Hi @Evetorres28, from reading this forum I learned that many members either did not get the extension letter or got it late. What you can do is to wait 30 days and file e-Request https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do by choosing an option "Did not receive notice by mail".

Received NOA/Extention letter via mail today. Shows processing center as Nebraska Service Center and the status shows “Fee Waived” ..

I did not apply for a waiver. Must be an error. Wonder if they will send another letter after correction.

We received an email from US Postal Service Informed Delivery this morning showing an incoming letter from USCIS.  Expecting it to be our extension letter.

Our package arrived on December 5th, 2018. We called a couple weeks ago to ask for a case number but they said it "wasn't yet available" (bs) and to call back if we hadn't received our extension later 30 days after they accepted the documents. Called again last night and we were given our case number; being processed in Nebraska, just like our I-130. The rep also said, "Oh, well, it's been five weeks, you should definitely have your letter by now. Let me transfer you to a Tier 2 rep." We then waited on hold for twenty minutes, finally said screw it, and hung up. I really doubt they can do anything about it? If we don't receive it in another couple weeks I suppose I'll fill out a request for missing mail online.

Update on my case

1. My I-751 was delivered on Dec 05. I did not fill form G-1145

2. On January 09, I went to field office in Sacramento. They registered me to get my biometric done. I went to biometrics office in Sacramento. Came back to field office. They stamped my passport with i551 stamp. It is valid until January 08, 2020.

3. They kept my green card and said they will destroy it.

4. They asked me to wait for new green card in mail

5. They said now I won't receive extension letter

Question

1. I am travelling to different countries in a couple of weeks- Canada, China, India etc. Is i551 stamp enough to re-enter USA?

2. Should I fill form I-131 ?
