Hi Everyone!

I have a couple of things on my mind tonight and I thought i would pass it on...

First, when dealing with our loved ones country of Egypt... why do they do the background check AFTER the interview? I thought most countries have it done first then the interview then the visa?

Second, why does it seem to take so long dealing with Egypt and the AP process? Not that any of us really have all the answers to these questions... but its whats on my mind right now... i really want to cry for awhile. :crying:

Lastly, how many of us on here who are married or engaged has had their spouse/fiance have an interview this year and when was it and any news about the AP?

I sent a signed letter to washington d.c. to my Senator in hopes that he can at least be aware that I would love help in the area of the AP process going faster. Its so unfair that illegal immigrants are being the direct focus right now in the news while us who are married/engaged doing things the family way and legal way... have to wait for a good long time for the AP process... we will see if the Senator who i voted into office in 2004 responds in any way to my letter... I hope so !

I will continue to stay strong for my husband and be patient and keep praying and waiting... just with a few tears here and there... I miss my husband...

(L) -Tamara

Admin Review/Processing is done after the interview because if they are found ineligible for the visa in the first place (based on the intervew), there would be no reason to waste resources to conduct such a lengthy review.

Some do have to go through security clearances prior to the interview though, that I have no answer for. I hope your wait is short.

Tamara.....I feel your pain.....it's hard to determine how long we're gonna be dealing with AP through Cairo because for some it lasted 4 months, some 5 months, others 6....and for others longer. It is really hard & it is unfair that any legislative talk about immigration usually centers around illegal immigrants. I hope we're not going to be on AP for too long.

But why do people in Morocco have their AR/P done in about a week to two weeks on average from this board anyways and Egypt is on average 4 to 5 months? It makes absolutely no sense to me.

I do hope you get a response but the negative voice in my mind is telling me they'll just spew out some nonsense and not look into it at all.

It really makes me sick to think that it's going to take my husband another two to three weeks to complete his pckt 3 on top of everything else. Sorry just venting out loud here!!! It wouldn't bother me as much if I thought the AR/AP would take maximum of a month.

I dont know the answer to that (and any guess I would have would be speculation), but its kind of like asking why consulates are different. Right now it is taking 24 months to bring a Dominican spouse to the US. Its appalling.

Oh wow I had no idea!!! I really don't follow the other consulates outside of mena. I wonder why that is happening. UGH. I mean if they would fix the LEGAL process of getting here perhaps people wouldn't be hoppin' the fence, you know??? Instead of fixing the source of the problem we're just putting bandaids on the symptoms and getting no where.

Beleive me, I wish I knew the answer. When Khallid was on AP there were days that I would not even log on to VJ because seeing all the visa approvals that were processing quickly in other countries made me darn near mental. I would want so badly to feel happy for the ones receiving their visas, but at times I honestly found it hard. There is always light at the end of this tunnel even though the tunnel seems way too long at times. (F)

I usually do ok but lately life has been hard here. When things like my health are failing, etc. I think well just deal with it, you're all alone, and then I think,...but you're married!!!.......but still alone. One doctor's office asked me the other day if I am married or single and I said single...then I stammered and said, oh wait, no I'm married. lol. She was like, "ooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkk" and I just left it at that since I didn't have the energy to explain my situation to the person scheduling my appt, ya know?

I can say for sure that this time of waiting since the interview and being on AP has been the very hardest part of this whole journey!! We are coming up to four months now and still nothing!! Even when I call DOS they have something different to say every time, but none of it is the news that checks are complete and the visa will be issued. In fact, when I called yesterday the lady told me that she could not see that any checks had even been requested from DOS. She said that she was going to email her supervisor to do an inquiry about the status and what type of AP was being done, but also she told me that all she could do was send her the email and that she could not say what the supervisor would do with the information. Sooooooo, just another frustrating piece of information to make me feel like screaming and pulling all my hair out with the frustration of this whole AP thing.

I have good days and bad days, some days I can say it will happen, just have patience.....and other days I feel like I could run screaming and yelling at anyone who will listen about this whole situation. :ranting::crying::protest::cry:

I learned while waiting for Moh that if your AP has gone beyond 6 months, DOS is a little more eager to help get information, but again its sketchy at best. The consulate is the best source of information. Our AP lasted 7 months and it took them 2 more to get his visa in his hands. Toward the end we were both calling DOS and never got consistent answers. It appears to all be dependent on the person who answers your call, their ability and interest in decyphering your case notes, and their own knowledge of the process. Its basically a ####### shoot. Emailing the consulate takes an immense amount of patience. I found the easiest thing for me was when I could just back away from all of it and let time bring its own closure. Its hard to do when you have an obsessive/complusive Egyptian on the other end foaming at the mouth every day. I hope everything for you all finds closure quickly.
