Wondering if anyone knows how long it takes generally for the embassy to contact you with Packet 3? The DHL tracking says my case arrived on Thursday morning at the Montreal embassy but the ceac website still says “in transit” still. If I don’t hear anything by next week should I try calling the embassy? Thanks in advance :)

Same thing with my case still "In transit" in CEAC though DHL tracking says signed and delivered 😦

Hey guys relax. It just got to the embassy. Your in line to "be check out" and when that is done your record will go to "ready".

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

@Greenbaum 🤣 we're panicking, is it alright to submit now my DS-160 or just wait the Packet 3 first or CEAC becomes "Ready"?

Why are you panicking?

The DS - 160 is a document that stands alone. It does not affect anything. You can't use it to find any information about your case. You can't use it for anything other than for its original intent and that is for the CO to use during your interview to adjudicate your case. It does not need to be finished at the moment you receive your case number or to do anything else but needs to be completed for the interview and it can be completed between case number issuance to the day before your interview.

I know it’s stressful but try and relax :) we are soooo lucky as July filers that our cases have been sent out to the embassies, while some other people have been waiting over 300 days for a NOA2. Just a month or 2 more and hopefully we all get our visas to be with our loved ones ❤️

I filled out my DS-160 when I got my case number just to stay on top of everything and to keep myself feeling organised and ready. You can fill it out now if you want.

I was with my fiance and after seeing so many people doing the same, being with them is faster and easier but in general was pretty fast they didn't even ask me for love proofs haha good luck to everyone now I will just wait my Visa and I will go to USA in a month 😍😍😄😄 questions they asked me: how many times you've been in the USA? Do you know his family? When and where do you plan to get married? Thats it 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Hi,

I have few questions regarding completion of DS-160 online application.

1) I work abroad and do not reside in my native country.  On DS-160 form, under home address, what address should I put? my native address or my foreign address where I currently live and work?

2) "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the USCIS?" - What should I answer to this question that is under travel section of DS-160 form?

The current petition that is approved is the first time anyone ever has filed for me with USCIS. Since the question asks "ever filed" I am confused if I should answer it yes or no.

3) This question might be bit silly. Under Fiance/Fiancee full name and address, will it be the US petitioner name and address or your own name and address?

4) When should I submit the DS-160 form? Before or after the medical and payment is done?

Thanks :)

Were you required to submit the financials along with the I-134? Which did you use if you submitted the I-134, one with a "wet" signature or one that was a copy?

Yeah they asked for the I-134 form plus additional documents, they asked for WE2 and 1040 I didn't have those. I had bank letter and employer letters and it worked too well got me scared. Think safer is you bring it. I used the one your signature is handwritting each page...

They need W2s and 1040 in original or copies?

It really depends on the consulate and personal circumstances as to what is needed for financial documentation.  I asked the visa unit in an email as to what they needed based on our situation and they gave me a great effort-saving response.  U might check the country-specific section here and consulate reviews, and/or just ask them directly.
