If the case status says ready then your case is at the embassy waiting for you to complete everything to get to the interview.

DHL is only going to work if you choose either Tues or Wed's date this week and then correctly identify your country. For your search to be successful that is all you need. Leave all the other parameters alone or matching the instructions.

Does that mean that we are waiting for packet 3 in the mail? I'm still quite confused about what packet 3 is/looks like.

 We just got our packet 3 this morning(TW time) / in the afternoon(LA time).

p.s. after your case says "in transit', you'll see "ready" when it's arrived in your "country".

THEN you'll see a second update time, that's when your embassy received your case.

This was what happened to me, but might be different country to country.

best of luck everyone, we're almost there.(L)

The first ready is usually when the Consulate/Embassy receives the electronic file.

Thank you for all of these links! We have gathered all of the documents, I have already mailed him the wet signature for the I-134 and passport pictures, he got the medical appointment done, and filled out the Ds-160 form already. Is is ok to submit the DS-160 before packet 3 is received? I apologize if this is something you have already answered in this... the anxiety of waiting tends to make me not think straight

What do u mean by electronic file? Doesn't the embassy receive hardcopies of the petition sent by NVC?

Maybe yes or maybe not, that depends not methodology of NVC and Embassy.

They receive both. You can check DHL to find out when your physical copy was signed for at the embassy/Consulate

Well that's interesting. So if hard and soft copies are both sent then the soft copies definitely must be reaching earlier than hardcopies. Is there any way to find out if embassy has received the soft copies? Does they work on our petition when they receive these soft copies? Really curious to know what are these soft copies used for? Any idea?
