Do we have to fill out form DS-261 or does that step not apply to a k1 visa?

The K-1 requires the completion of the DS-160.

Follow what is needed.

I guess our case should be in the NVC since NOA2 was on Dec 26th. So hi everyone !

I have two questions though:

1) I will get the updates about our case by email if I asked the NVC to update our emails, but in order to get my case number for the Moscow Consulate my fiance will need to call the NVC when I recieve the email saying that the case number was assigned, right?

2) Could anyone, or dear Greenbaum, direct me to the link to P3 for Moscow (Russia) embassy if possible?

Thank you for your help in advance!

1) If you call you can find out when your case arrived at NVC (probably isn't there yet, actually, at least going by ours, which arrived on Dec 3 from a Nov 16 NOA2), and get your case # (we called once three weeks after NOA2 to learn about arrival and again a week later to get case #), but they'll contact you when it's sent to Moscow regardless (and if they don't have the beneficiary's email, they'll ask then).

2) https://ru.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/ is all we've got so far, and we're about a month ahead of you.

Hello all, I just spoke to NVC and we received our case number, yesterday, January 3, 2019. We did not expect to receive our case number this soon, but we'll take it. 😁

Based upon similar timelines for the Dominican Republic, it was taking 10 to 14 days to receive a case number.

Keep callings, it seems NVC has picked up the pace!

NOA1 = 2018-06-21

NOA2 = 2018-12-11

NVC RECEIVED = 2018-12-28

CASE NO. RECEIVED = 2019-01-03
