They track your IP address, it is like a return address on mail but for your computer.

Okay... So now I have a concern. My fiance is here is the US working on board a cruise ship. We agreed that when it came closer to time he would leave his contract. But if the DS160 form tracks his IP address would it show that he filled it out here in the US? So does all that mean we can't fill it out once I have the case number??? Will we have to wait until he goes home?

No, as long as there is proof that they were located where the DS160 was submitted there isn't an issue. It's just something they are able to track and if they have any questions just be able to provide the proof (take it to the interview).

Okay! Whew! Filling out this form was one of the few things we could do to keep our processes moving and I thought we were stuck until he got back home (which he knows he'll be leaving soon!)

Well, there are two ways. They can collect the isp number to determine what country the computer was in at the time of submission and the other is if they ask the question and if one were to lie and showed on their face the CO would pick up on that then Oh Oh!

I recommend that you both work on it together. Once it is completed the petitioner should read through the form making 100% that his/her information is correct. Then save it and provide the beneficiary the information to open the form on their end and they then go through the document to ensure dates and names are spelled correctly. Then the beneficiary will submit the document and PRINT off the confirmation page with the barcode. That's what you will bring to the interview and present to the CO.

About the Signature. The Form DS-160 shall be signed electronically by clicking the box designated "Sign Application" in the certification section of the application. This electronic signature attests to the applicant's familiarity with and intent to be bound by all statements in the NIV application under penalty of perjury. Alternatively, except as provided in paragraph (a)(2) of this section, the Form DS-156 shall be signed by the applicant, with intent to be bound by all statement in the NIV application under penalty of perjury.

It can be signed from anywhere in the world. The main concern is that the beneficiary does the submitting as noted in the above information. We are making to much of a BIG deal out of this.

Yeah they are kinda mean but don't worry within a week they will send you an email. I sent two messages one asking if they receive my case... And one asking my case number. Never thought they would reply both haha of course different dates :) so do it!

Haha I wasn't being sarcastic. The lady I spoke to was very nice and helpful. I was surprised because I thought they'd be irate and angry lol
