Hi,

NOA 2: 12-Dec-2018

K1 process

Have few questions:

1) Is it mandatory to update email addresses of petitioner and beneficiary with NVC after the NOA 2? If yes, how do to do that?

2) Who receives the notification email and letter from NVC about the case number? Beneficiary or Petitioner?

3) Is there any official website link where you can track if your approved petition has reached NVC?

Thank you

all of this info is on pg 1 of this thread.

Hi TandSarahJane,

Thanks for writing. Appreciate it.

I did check the first page where Greenbaum mentioned the process. It's pretty good. My questions are after reading that post.

The first point itself gives instructions on updating the email addresses. We have already mentioned our email addresess on the I-129F form so NVC must be having that data. So I was wondering if it's mandatory to update the same data again.

That post doesn't mention who will receive the email or letter from NVC when the petition reaches or leaves from NVC.

Yes! there is a NVC link to ask a question but I didn't find any link where u can have a quick check on the status with NVC.

I cudnt find answers to my queries there. It wud be great if u cud help me finding them.

Thanks :)

So I was wondering if it's mandatory to update the same data again. This is not mandatory. It's a suggestion and whether you want to stay posted with what is happening with your case, then it is advisable that you use the tip. BUT some have reported no emails and some have received so your mileage may vary.

That post doesn't mention who will receive the email or letter from NVC when the petition reaches or leaves from NVC. There is a empty block that you can had your names, case number and email address for each of you. (The post will be updated in January's thread to reflect "what to do with" the dang empty box. :D

Yes! there is a NVC link to ask a question but I didn't find any link where u can have a quick check on the status with NVC. There isn't a link for a "quick check" only giving NVC your email address's.

I cudnt find answers to my queries there. It wud be great if u cud help me finding them. I hope you have a better understanding with these explanations.

Thanks :)

Just called NVC. Picked up instantly. Internet call line breaking up the whole time. i think the officer lady said our case was received yesterday (2018-12-18), and the case number was assigned today(2018-12-19)? sounds too good to be true. fyi our NOA2 is 2018-11-28

Call back for the case number. Congratulations.

Thanks Greenbaum. Prompt as usual.

Yes! Pretty much got the answers that I was looking for; however, didn't get the "empty block" thing that mentioned. As NVC will be having both petitioner's and beneficiary's contact details, I am still not sure if they will send emails to the petitioner or beneficiary or to both. 🤔 I am still searching for blogs to find answer to my question. Lol.

Well, I did state that they will send to both but some have found that this little hack didn't work for them. Others, stated that it did work and both petitioner or beneficiary got the emails.

I did the Ask NVC and gave them my email as well as my fiancee's email but I think only I got the email that our file was received. I just told them to update the email addresses.

So I have to wait for my fiance to get the P3 before we can complete the DS-160?  From looking at that online form, it's probably best to my have fiance fill it all out.

No you don't need to wait for P3 to fill out the DS160. You can use either the case number from NVC or the WAC number from USCIS. You can help them fill it out but they have to be the one to submit it. They can track where the submit button is clicked.
