Hi everyone! I've been really bussy designing and working on my wedding dress, sorry for not being arround here helping.

Wanted to say a big THANK YOU! To everyone in this group that helped us getting our visa approved 😊.

I also want to give a special thanks to @Greenbaum, dude you always know everything, you do that extra step to help others, thanks so much, many times my fiance and I didn't know how to.move forward with our paoerwork, or got frustrated and you really helped us out. ❤

I try to share all the knowledge I have plus my experience with others that are starting this jouney or are in stages I already been through.

This is the ultimate chalange for a couple, we feel so blessed. Never give up peeps! No matter how frustrating this process could be, here we are to make you reunite with your loved one. ❤

Thanks and now a new journey starts AOS!

Thank you for the shout out. I appreciate your recognition. Good luck and safe travels.

Frist thing you do when your fiancé arrives (maybe second thing :D) is to go to the Social Security Office and get her a SSN.

Thanks so much!, is it better to do it before getting married or after? Im wondering if my name changes after marriage and I get my SSN before that, Could that be an issue when using the SSN number filling the AOS paperwork?

No issues. There are a few reasons that you get the SSN before marriage and that is to use for any financial institution that requires it when you are trying to co-mingle your bank accounts, mortgage, credit cards etc. Co-mingle assets is a tool to demonstrate to USCIS that you are becoming a "married" couple with traditional financial bonds. If you wait till after then you must have your GC prior to applying for SSN. If you do it before and then return after marriage you can change your name and keep moving on with your new life together with one less worry.

@Greenbaum, Thankyou. I always wondered what difference it makes getting it before or after marriage. You cleared that doubt

Hey guys! I have two questions, maybe @Greenbaum can help me out.

1) I applied for SSN as four days after I landed in the US. They told me they could process my case without any problems and that I should expect the card in the mail within 2-4 weeks. I called them today because it's been four weeks and no card, and they told me to wait another couple of weeks. What should I do? We are waiting for my SSN to get married and file the AOS.

2) When we were applying for the K1 I was using my fiance's parents' address every time I was asked "address where you intend to live". We always knew we would rent a place as soon as I arrived in the US, but obviously we didn't know the address for that.

Now we have rented a place and we have a new address. I'll be filing for AOS soon and I'm going to use this new address. My question is: do I need to notify USCIS about my new address BEFORE I file my papers or should I just go ahead and file my AOS with my new address?

 Thanks!

Happy to say our visa should arrive Monday but now I have a few more questions I’m hoping someone here may know the answers to?

I am wondering if transferring all my finances from my Canadian bank account is as simple as closing my account and opening a new one in the states ? I’ve heard mixed things about how difficult it can be and it is not as simple as just walking in and opening an account since the currency is different. We plan to open an account with my fiancé’s bank. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on this or may be able to direct me to a thread ? Thank you to everyone so much and all the best!:)

I'm not experience in what can or can't be done but I'm sure your Canadian bank will advise you as well as your USA bank. There are cash transfer apps such as "cash" is what I use but I'm sure there are others. If your Canadian money is not needed right away I would spend time researching.

I would love to hear what you end up doing.

Timeline

Thanks to all the help and support, I got my visa last month. I will fly to LA on May 10th and get married on May 13th. Our wedding will be held in Taiwan next year, therefore we are looking at a time frame for the Adavanced Parole to come through... So hopefully we can get everything ready and send it out within a week.

But I have a few questions/concerns, hope you guys can help me:

1. How soon can I get the I-94 record online after the POE? Some said a week or more, some said the next day?

2. Have read so many posts recommending getting the SSN before marriage, so will it cause me any delay if I get married first then apply it with the AOS application?

3. Anyone here also lives in LA and has already sent in the AOS application? How does the timeline look for you?

Thank you in advance.
