Hey guys! I'm about to file my AOS and I'm wondering if my birth certificate has to be translated by a professional translator or if I can do it myself attaching a sogned statement declaring I'm capable of doing it?

Thanks!

I could be wrong but I don't think you are allowed to translate your own documents since you are the petitioner.

after much googling, it seems that you can translate your own documents if you are fluent in both languages but some advise not to because you are interested party.

I actually got an RFE after filing the K-1 because I translated myself. I put the affidavit but it didn’t matter. Better get a certified translation and have them put in their contact info and stamp at the bottom with their affidavit.

Hi everyone

Where does the NVC stuff get sent to? My fiance is currently with me in the US. We havent recieved any notice that his embassy recieved anything,  but we also havent gotten notice that anything was sent yet. (noa2 arrived feb 14). Will they send everything to his address or to mine?

NVC forwards your packet to the embassy in your fiance's home country.  I'm not sure if the part after is country/embassy specific but the embassy emailed me a checklist to forward to my fiance.

Hey everyone! Question about the I-134 affidavit. Might be a silly question but does anyone know if student loans count as “debt” under “mortgages or other debts” section of the form?

I've read that the embassy does not do a credit check so you don't necessarily have to list those.  I only put my gross income on mine, did not put any debt or mortgages info and did not have any problems.

It was possible to schedule ur medical in Amsterdam with ur casenumber?

With a little research I was able to find the details on how you will schedule and complete the medical (see that information below).  BTW, there is a wealth of information for your process located beginning at the embassy website. Follow the links at the website and new windows of information will open before you.

Depending on others from other countries to answer specific questions about your embassy's process could lead to a not so good out come. Therefore I would get familiar with your embassy's website and your country's sub-forum found here on VJ. Use the "Forum" tab at the top of this page and scroll 3/4 of the way down the page for links to your country or region.

It's good if you were to explore away from this thread to be well informed about your personal process. To that end I recommend that you select your flag in your profile,  sorry you can't do that since you haven't completed your profile. That's too bad as there is a lot of information contained from the link that is embedded from your flag being set in a completed profile.

Here is the Medical information and you may want to give them a ring and determine if they will except the case number or what requirements are needed.

Medical Exam Instructions

All immigrant visa applicants, regardless of age, require a medical examination prior to visa issuance. Only a physician accredited by the U.S. Consulate can perform this exam. It is your responsibility to schedule a medical exam with one of the doctors listed below at least 10 days before your visa interview appointment at the U.S. Consulate. Medical examination results from other physicians will not be accepted.

Approved Physicians:

Dr. M Schulte & Dr. J. Schulte
Nicolaas Maestraat 43
1071 PN Amsterdam
Phone: 020-671 0054

Telephone hours for scheduling exam appointments are between 08:30 and 13:00 Monday to Friday.

I normally have a P3 letter from your country but few pass through here who have interviewed in the Netherlands. If/when you get a P3 letter if you could share it with me I could help others who come behind you with those instructions. Thank you.

There isn't anything that you send to NVC. What "stuff" are you referring to? I might be able to help you out with additional information that you stated above that you are missing but I don't know your embassy.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

@M and Ed, for AOS are you using your birth certificate or the "acta de nacimiento" they ask at the US Embassy interview?

Yes, you need a professional to translate legal paperwork, I investigated that for the original I129F packet. Also check if you need to have it legalized to have international validity, because I had to do both things when I sent my birth certificate on the original packet to the USCIS.

Hey everyone! We are waiting for visa to be approved after sending in the documents for the green slip/final processing letter. Our NOA2 said it is valid until April 14th. If we don’t get an approval until then, would we need to apply for some kind of extension from the embassy or is it automatic? We already interviewed and they said we wouldn’t need a second interview and we mailed in the passport with the docs btw.
