Here in the states, a State issues a BC and it is original (printed only once on fancy spancy paper) when produced the first time after birth. Then from there on, if one is needed you get a "reprint" of the original (plain old bond paper) and it is indicated on the copy that it is a "certified" copy. Meaning it's identical in everyway with the original, just not an original. Using such a document is like using the original.

My fiance sent the soft copies of employment letter, Intent to Marry, W-2s, Tax Transcripts, 1040, pay stubs, and signed I-134 by email.

Employment letter was sent as a soft copy to my fiance by the employer. No hard copy was given.

I just took print outs of these documents. Now how do I make these documents as certified copies?

Ok people. Let's get up and get on the computers to CEAC and start checking the status as it is NVC Shipment Day to the Embassies.

Go to www.dhl.com click Express then Tracking, then Track by Shipper's Reference, and on this page you add your search information. You change the day and month to what you think your package might have left NVC or call NVC to get the date your package had left NVC in route to your Embassy then go to the DHL website and enter the following information:

NOTE: Status for shipments will not update until 24 hours so using DHL on Wednesday is advisable as you will see nothing today.

EXAMPLE:

* Shipper´s Reference : EXP 24 MAR 2011A (This is the date you think it left NVC, just substitute the date and leave everything else as is)

* Date range for shipment - From: 23 - 03 - 2011

* Date range for shipment - To: 26 - 03 - 2011

Account Number - Leave this blank

Shipment Destination: Philippines (Works for any country Just replace your country where the Embassy is located using the drop down box).

I hope these tips help you along your Journey. So, let’s share our experiences, our tips and ask questions.

The document you receive from the governing body (like a Birth Certificate) of that document will issue either an original or a certified copy. When getting documents from any governing body ask for an original or if they can't produce one then ask for certified copy.  You can't take a document you already have and make it certifiable.

You're better than Google, no joke.

Do you know if I am gonna need a certified copy for my adjustment of status or will the translated original do? Should I get a certified copy before I leave my country?

Beneficiary should bring copy's of any important documents, like BC, divorce papers, college transcripts etc.

I am not concerned about the birth certificate cauz I have that in original. My question was with regards to the employment letter, paystubs, w2s, tax transcripts, and 1040s. All these were sent as soft copies or scanned copies to me by my fiance via email and I have taken printouts of these copies. Can these copies be considered as certified copies?

Employment letter, paystubs, w2s, tax transcripts, and 1040s do not need to be certified or original and if you print them locally they are not certified.
