Hello Hafiz,

I am getting the same run around and it looks like we are in security checks that are not showing up in DOS. I have tons of security checks I found online and then today found another called the LexisNexis check. It is two pages of checks that they can order that is used for immigrations and persons in certain job fields. I asked my senator to inquire and all they were told is we are in AP. Sorry but guess we have to pray for patience and just hope our checks are finished soon.

Mary

I'm so sorry you're still waiting :( Have you tried your senators or representative? They might not be able to do anything, but maybe they could at least figure out where your papers are...

:(

Sharon the papers are in DC somewhere in security checks. Senator and congressman are only told the person is in AR/AP. This is what is going on with us. Embassy says case is in DC but when you call DOS there is no record.

LOL, like the DOS wasn't able to tell me anything from Nov. 8th when Cairo first sent in the security clearance/name check thing (AR, Administrative Check, whatever they keep calling it) till the day the visa was issued last week, arrrrggghhhhhhh. So it is like you fall into a black hole until that piece is done. Although I am still puzzled why Cairo told Ahmed they would return his passport in 10 days, and then they didn't even send the check to DOS until 8 days after his interview. Like it was going to get done in 2 days??? Well, I didn't really think so, but poor Ahmed really did believe what they said . . . so I tried not to burst that bubble too quickly because i knew that it would be hard enough . . . I still didn't imagine 4 1/2 months of waiting. But now that it is over, i am so OK.

I think they just always say 10 days. That way the people leave happy, and then by the time they realize it was a lie they can't get angry or do anything about it because there's no getting back into that consulate after your interview.

I feel for each of you and watch when I can praying you receive answers.

To the person who started this thread, please try and hold on to each other longer. This immigration process is a nightmare for many but it can and should make your relationship stronger. You can't give up now, you are closer to an answer than many many months ago. This will all be over one day and the wait will have been worth it. Don't give up. My prayers are with you.

Certainly . . . just get them out the door quickly before you have to tell them "it might be SIX MONTHS!!!". I do understand their thinking about this. It does appear that now they give a more realistic time since I think Aymerlu might have been told 4-6 weeks? I thought I saw a couple of people that the embassy told them a longer time to wait . . . . but it still means you have to get over the big disappointment when that time period is passed too (if you are unlucky enought to fall into the AR blackhole). I think 6 weeks has been a closer estimate of the time for people to wait for Egypt and it appears to be a bit longer for the ones with the shorter waits. Not sure that makes sense, but does anything about this make sense??? There are several countries in that region and they all have different problems and waiting times.

Oh Dear! :( I am so sorry ti hear about your ordeal...it is incredible how unreliable all these agencies are...giving people run around and false hopes...total lack of consideration...but I guess this is the reality in the world that we live in...not a pretty picture...we just got on the waiting list for the AR/AC and were told that Jamal would be contacted in 2 weeks...let us see how long we are going to actually go through...I try to stay positive and fight of the frustration but it is not easy ...my heart goes out to you and I must admire you for the enormous patience that you have...it is not easy to give advice in a situation like yours since it seems that there is not one agency or source of information that is reliable as to correct facts...I guess it is a waiting game...I hope that soon you will get something that would lift your spirits and let you relax and enjoy your life...Stay strong :luv::luv:

Dorothy
