Does wife's birth certificate need to be translated?

Hi all,

I just noticed that our packet three doesn't mention that my wife's birth certificate, or anything else for that matter needs to be translated into English for her interview. Is this true? Will foreign language documents be sufficient for her interview?

What are the rules for your consulate on their website? Normally anything in the local language or English does not need to be translated for the interview but will need to be translated for AOS down the road.

I know in mainland China they do. When my wife got her police cert, and birth cert, she goth them translated at her local notary office.

Assuming the documents are in Chinese characters, you'll need official translations later in the US, whether the Consulate needs them or not. I'm willing to bet the Consulate wants them translated too.
