Calls from US to UK mobiles

I am now in the US working for the same compnay I was working for in the UK. Sometimes I need to make UK mobile calls, and I have found loads of cheap services to call UK landlines, but mobiles are always considered a "premium" rate. Does anyone know of any sort of phone service (other than a calling card) like Vonage that also includes calling mobile numbers?

Thank you!

Nope, I've had HORRIBLE luck. I think the cheapest I found was 17 cents a minute or something. Let us know if you find something though!

I looked for a long time and 17cents/min was the cheapest I ever found too. That was www.onesuite.com. Decent connection and call quality. The trouble is that UK mobile companies don't charge the call receiver only the caller, so the caller is stuck with the bill.

I have tried the skype thing and it's fine on landlines, but when it comes to mobiles, people complain they can't hear me!

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Install Skype on your PC http://www.skype.com then add skype out credit to your account (you will need a mic) you can then call UK mobiles for $0.253 per min..

Kez

I posted this but it looks like nobody saw it.....

I use Skype to stay intouch with all my family on landline, mobile and PC.... it can be used to call any phone anywhere in the world.... and it is the cheapest option available....

If you can have access to Verizon, as your long distance service provider, they have an "un marketed" plan called Unlimited calling to the UK. I have it on my home land lind- I can call UK landlines for free, unlimited (it's about $40 per month for the service) the catch with mobiles however is this...on top of the monthly service fee's, calling mobiles then is like .08 cents a minute. That's the cheapest I've found it.

But I happen to love the service and the fact that I can call the mobile if I need to in a pinch and it never ends up costing me that much money :) Good Luck!!

If you are calling mobile to mobile, I'm on Cingular and on some sort of "world" plan that is around 10 cents per minute, and it's cut my cell phone bill down to about $150/month...we were ringing up $400-$500/mo cell phone bills, and that's also with using Skype! We're just too much on on the go and need to use our cells to talk alot....but Cingular is decently cheap considering...

Also, when she's here in the states, she has a Cingular Go Phone. I just put $20 on it when she comes and I get a new phone number for it...it costs $1/day on days when you use it and we get free mobile-to-mobile so if we are apart and I need to talk to her, it works out to be pretty cheap.

I'm still amazed at how much it costs to call a UK cell phone, maybe because I'm only well experienced with US based cell phones, where there is no difference in price.

When I first started talking to Dawn, I got a Vonage phone line with unlimited calls to parts of Europe. That worked out quite well.
