My understanding of the instructions is that your spouse is not required to sign if he does not live in the US. However, it sounds like you signed the document for him, in the box where his signature is supposed to be. I think the box had to be left blank (maybe they will have him sign it at the interview?). The instructions say that he does not need to sign, not that you can sign for him.

I would send a new completed form, without your signature, and include a cover letter stating that he is not required to sign. You could even quote the instructions in your letter.

For the RFE: I would fill out a completele new form, sign your petitioner part but leave the beneficiary signature blank ( as it says on the instructions if beneficiary and petitioner are not living together)

Maybe include a cover letter “explaining” what you’re doing

anyway...I130 and I130a are required to be file when applying for a spouse!

The I-130 + I-130A is required for a spouse. This was added in either late 2016 or early 2017.

02/27/2017 to be exact (with the old one accepted until 04/28/2017); https://web.archive.org/web/20170310111151/https://www.uscis.gov/i-130 see "Special Instructions" tab
