Canadian men ROCK!!!

I am sitting here, finishing eating the scrummy homemade waffles with a fruit and whipped cream topping that my lovely lovely hubby made me :) His Canadian mama did a good job teaching him!!!

The background is that I am waiting for an insurance company to call me back so that I can proceed with getting one of my clients hospitalized. I am going to be tied up for awhile doing clinical stuff, as I was last night for several hours. This morning, we had had plans to go for breakfast and spend the day doing stuff. Obviously, plans have been changed a bit. The lovely man I married, when seeing that plans have changed and I am dealing with this, WALKED to the store (no license yet so has been dependent on me to get anywhere), bought breakfast stuff and cooked.

I was trolling through the ME/NA and African forums the other night. The cultural differences are fascinating, but I have to admit that I really gained a new appreciation for having a fiance who is so culturally/religiously/ethnically similar to me. That's one thing that we don't have to worry about, y'know?

(&it helps to have already lived together for a couple of years!)

I have to add...YES YES YES!!! Canadian men DO rock! My sweet husband isn't afraid to wash a dish or do a load of laundry. He rubs my feet with lotion after a hard day (but I make sure I do the same for him). He cooks for me too. I am one lucky lady, as we all are. :luv:

Well here I am!! lol Growing up at home< iwas the biggest slob, room was a mess (but I did help around the house) But once I lived on my own, I do ALL the cleaning. I really prefer if I do the cleaning, because I like things done a certain way! My wife have never vacuumed (love my Dyson) And i do not use a mop on the tiles, I'm down on my hands and knees. back in Victoria, my houuse had all wood. and tile, and i still wiped everything down on my hands and knees!!(In the navy, there is no such thing as mops, all is cleaned on your hands/knees!!----Mops just hold lots of bad bacteria, etc) I vacuum at least every 2nd day, thanks to having 2 cats and a dog (did I mention I love my Dyson, lol) yes I am a clean freak!! And I do the majority of the cooking, and 99.99999% of the grocery shopping, and I make my wife's lunch!! Ya, it all sounds like I'm a super guy, but in reality, my only real task in life right now is school, and that's been pretty light, that is until my RN course starts in August. So I have no real excuse not to clean/cook,lol but I enjoy it, so no big deal. Would be hard to tell my Wife to clean/cook after she has put in a long days work, when i only had to got class for 1 hr,lol And yes I have trained her (as well as her family) to take their shoes off,lol I enjoy cleaning, i find it relaxing.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We made some "poutine" here in the South! It was a decent substitute for the real thing too. Of course we didn't have fresh cheese curds so we had to use shredded mozzarella. My husband puts ketchup on his (ick) and I like mine with lots of cheese. The restaurant he took me to, where I had poutine for the first time, was the Red Cap in Pubnico NS. I fell in love! Not to mention the Rappie Pie, which I've not tried to duplicate just yet. Might do that this summer while I'm on summer break.

Not sure if there's a vegetarian way of making poutine...unless you use a white sauce/gravy. If I come across one I'll post it for ya.

vegetarian poutine?? this does'nt exist... it's basically fries, gravy and cheeze... if you don't want cheeze, it's what we call fries in gravy, it's not poutine anymore...
