Dear all,

I applied for citizenship while i751 is pending, and 3 weeks ago I passed the civic exam in N400 interview, while i751 is still pending, so decision cannot be made. In order to learn what to expect at this point, I called USCIS and spoke with a Tier 2 officer, who filed inquiry for me to our local USCIS office (where my interview was taken place).

The local office responded promptly but the letter says that they are doing background check, and thus no timeframe can be given.

My question is that - is it normal to have a background check at this point? Shouldn't they finished with that before the N400 interview? Or is it a separate background check for i751? Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for the reply. Congratulations. I don't think my case is as straightforward, since I have i-751 pending. One month passed I'm still waiting lol.

LucyF- Could you know your final status.  I did the N-400 interview and passed, but I-751 is pending
