Applied I-130 for my wife a week a go, now I want to apply form my Dad

well discrimination comes in when this bill will require newly immigrants to "assimilate"

This type of forced assimilation is discrimination. Who says that to be an American one must forget all the values of the culture of orgin. Like Hillary Clinton said- America is America because of its immigration trends. So i do firmly believe that stoping or restricting aging parents to join their families is discrimination.

anyhow.. i respect ur opinions but coming from a very humanistic educational background- this propsed reform is against all I have learned in all these years of schooling.... so i hope u can respect where i am coming from :jest: :jest:

Yes - who said?

'Assimilate' does not mean forget all, or even any, of the values of the culture of origin. It means learn the values of American culture. Big difference, and it's this kind of mis-understanding that complicates the discussion more than is necessarily.

The main issue with bring Parents, particularly elderly, to the US is the Health Care System, or lack of, not the the Immigration system.

If you are looking to move somewhere it helps to speak the language, helps to know a bit of the language if you are going merely on holiday.

I think I will go head apply for my father next week, and see what's going to happen.

Thanks a lot again, and if you know or come across any info I will really appreciate it.

One more follow-up question: Can the father/mother apply and get a visitor visa to the US while the I-130 petition filed by the USC for his/her parent is pending?

Is the answer the same for a brother of a USC?

Canadians do not not normally need visa's to visit.

But somebody who does can apply, usual issues as to whether they get one.

Some have, some have not.

All depends on their personal circumstances.
