K-1 Interview in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Can it be in Portuguese?

Hi,

 

My fiancee's first language is Portuguese, and it would probably be best for her to interview in that language when she interviews in Rio. Are they able to do interviews in Portuguese? Or would she have a difficult time getting a Portuguese speaking interviewer there?

Normally, interviewees are given their choice of English or native language of that country.  In the case of Rio, the web site says "

 

"All applicants who are not fluent in Portuguese or English should come to the interview accompanied by an official interpreter.  Applicants needing to use an interpreter will be asked to present the official interpreter’s credentials.  If the applicant fails to bring an official interpreter, the interview will have to be rescheduled."

 

That seems to indicate that she can interview in Portuguese....

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I attended the interview with my my husband.  Before beginning the CO asked if we wanted to conduct the interview in English or Portuguese.  We said Portuguese, which I didn't speak, so the interviewer addressed questions to me in English and to my husband in Portuguese.
