Taxes for 2018, just December?

I'll be relocating to the US in December (new LPR), which means my income will be for just one month.

When I file my taxes for 2018, do I only need to include the info for my US income in December? Or do I need to include any info for the other 11 months that I lived abroad and was not a LPR?.

Also, I'm assuming that I'll pay close to no taxes, since my anual income for 2018 will be so low.

A tax year is January 1 through December 31..........Only income generated between and inclusive of those dates will apply.  Whether you include income from outside the US is a matter which warrants the advice of a tax profession since it can get quite complicated the first year of US residency.  In my case, we hired an accountant.  The result was might be that a new resident  (tax year 2017) report as a non-resident for part of the year and as a resident the remainder of the year.  There is also the matter of FBAR foreign bank account reporting and foreign income reporting which can also get complicated due to reporting thresholds.

I recommend that new residents with income hire an accountant or tax professional knowledgeable of foreign tax reporting requirements....at least the first year.  I would not rely on tax advice from a public forum.

You can find here what applies to you. Takes you to an IRS assistant. Don't worry, it's private and does not ask your credentials.

Do I need to file a tax return?
