Hi!

I wish I could’ve found answers without posting here, but it seems NVC sends different emails based on different situations. We sent out an expedite request last week, today we received an email like this below:

Dear Immigrant Visa Applicant:

This is to inform you that the National Visa Center (NVC) is transferring your immigrant visa case to U.S. Embassy Tokyo upon your or your representative’s recent request.
If you have not paid visa processing fees to the NVC yet, fees will be collected at the embassy.

In the meantime, you may prepare the medical documents for your immigrant visa processing.
For information on visa application procedure and required documents, please visit our website at: jp.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/.

The Next Steps:

We will send a notice to you once we receive the immigrant visa case from the National Visa Center.
If all of supporting documents are uploaded on CEAC (Consular Electronic Application Center), at ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx, we will schedule an appointment for your visa interview.
If you need to present additional documents at time of visa interview, we will inform you.  Then, you may respond to the notice to request an appointment as soon as all documents are ready.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Consular Section, Immigrant Visa Unit
United States Embassy, Tokyo

Can anyone tell me what this email means? It looks like we’re skipping NVC process entirely? We’re only almost finished uploading our AOS and IV documents, haven’t submitted them yet.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you are skipping the rest of the NVC process.  This email did NOT come from NVC.  Clearly, it came from the Immigrant Visa Unit in Tokyo.
