I-485 Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed

I checked the uscis website and it now says form I-485  Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed

What does this actually mean as we thought we included everything in our packet so this is confusing to us

You won't know until you receive the request.

Could be something relatively harmless (missing signature or form, ) or something more serious (proof of bona fide marriage). Every once in a while USCIS makes a error and mistakenly issues an RFE when one isn't need.

It means they found something in your initial application lacking, or requiring clarification.  You'll have a chance to rectify this.  You will get a letter explaining what they need.  Gather the information.  Make sure you provide everything they ask for and mail it back to them.  After that, processing of your case will resume.

It means you did not submit all of the listed required evidence. You wont know exactly what is being requested until you get the RFE hardcopy in the mail but if you post your cover letters for each form we may be able to help.

ok we will wait and see what they exactly want, We are going to go through what we sent as we made a copy

Sometimes they lose or misplace things so they just request it again. At least you made a copy of your petition so it hopefully is an easy fix!

I got the same thing but i got my letter in the mail and it was because i didn't include the joint sponsors birth certificate. not sure if you've included it or not but they could be asking for anything. I'm just annoyed mine was something so small!

OK we got the notice and says my wife doesn't meet the poverty deadline 

 

Last year she didn't but this year she will

 

Do they base it off of last year or the current year as she is already over the 125% of $20600 

 

Also they say they want the w2s 1099 and the 2555 forms

 

We already sent in the w2s so are confused

I called them and they told me they do go off your previous years tax return not your current year
