I agree . My fiance and I met on a dating website. I was worried about this bcuz I heard ppl telling me it might be an MRB (before the date I was gonna have an interview !) I prepared the information and terms of the website then brought those documents for my interview ,I knew I'd be asked about how we met .I told the CO we met on a dating website called……,also I presented the paper to the CO,she just took a look then returned them back to me. (Actually, I found out it's not an IMB later) .My interview was this month and we got approved ! But I knew some ppl were requested for the terms of IMB and their applicants' data on those websites (one of them is like " The matrimonial company....)before they got Noa2. Not sure about yours. You'd better check the website you met.If you don't get rfe before Noa2, you might be fine.Hope this helps you.

We met/started talking on Facebook and never had any interactions on dating websites of any kind. I also have the very first messages we exchanged in a screenshot. Should I still submit affidavits stating this is how we met and never used any dating websites?

I’ve often wondered how much faster the whole process would be for some of us if the web didn’t exist. I’m amazed that USCIS processes applications as fast as they do.

i dont have a problem with how people meet. my opinions on the very lax meeting requirements would cut that time down significantly, though lol but thats a whole other topic ;)

I agree, the minimum requirements to start the K1 are ridiculous. How people meet only once and then start the process dumbfounds me.

Immigration had no problem with us meeting online

dating sites are for the purpose of those who are serious for companionship to travel together or date or marry

bars are for people who look for fun

i had picked amor a latin american site after traveling to Ecuador and Peru

At that time i was thinking to buy a place with my sister in Salinas Ecuador and just get to know people there

My current fiance said that she heard that US immigration doesn't like it if you met online initially...I'm trying to wrap my head around that because she lives across the world, how else would we have initially started talking? Of course, we have met in person since then and I'm going to her country soon to see her again, but, why would immigration dislike us having started talking online?

100% not true,

I actually met my fiancé through youtube of all places, the uscis thought that was weird yes but they kinda laughed about it cause they never heard of people meeting that way as they are used to dating sites lol,

if your relationship is genuine then you will be fine :)

But now?? Please point to someone who hasn't gone on OKCupid, Tinder, etc. There is nobody. We've all at least tried it.

We met through Instagram initially and successfully made it through the K1 process (with about 4 in-person visits).

On the flip side, there are some locations where handsome young men will get jobs at tourist hot spots and then charm the heck out of older women visiting from Western countries with the goal of securing a green card. So having initially met in person isn't a guarantee of anything either. Tell your friend that...

Then it won't be a problem ! You're over thinking! I've never heard of ppl got request for the evidence about how they met on Facebook. You do need to prove your relationship is true!

That meme is hilarious!! I can't stop laughing. But don't worry, I am very much a millennial and never once used Tinder/okcupid/whatever people use either. :)  My now-husband and I met in person when I studied abroad in college in his country.

Many of us have never used dating websites of any kind. Many of us wouldn't actively search for a foreign partner in the first place, many of us don't particulary like getting into a long distance relationship. We just happened to stuble upon our loves on random, in real life or some random website online, that was far from a dating website.
