Isnt Medicaid basically a loan, so the child will pay it back from their inheritance?

Show us a case where someone had a negative outcome and we can compare.

Not a case, but a proposed rule that is nearing official implementation (probably will be enacted this month or next IMO, given the required public comment period and time to publish it to the register, then being effective at a date shortly afterwards). This does not apply to ROC or citizenship though, so not particularly relevant to the OP's case as they are a current LPR (but could impact future petitioning for somebody else).

I-864 is pretty much an honor system document.

For the repayment of government funds portion, that's pretty much the case currently. Although this could change very quickly if the government wanted to start enforcing it.

So no evidence that there would be a negative impact to you in anyway. You would be crazy not accept pregnancy Medicade IMO. People are scared I get it but don't be blinded by fear.

I had pregnancy medicaid as a secondary insurance. It is called Medical Assistance in my state. Back then, I was a green card holder. I disclosed everything, and was approved. The criteria are looser for pregnant women. Also, a lot of these programs are state specific. Those are OK to receive. Federal benefits is where it may get tricky.

You have a sponsor so you DONT become a public charge. By acccepting medicaid you become a public charge and have the taxpayers pay for you and your unborn child’s care. This is exactly why a sponsor is needed to show they can support you. If the person who is bringing you to the US can’t support you why should US citizens? I realize I’m being blunt but this is the reality and 1 reason why so many people have negative view of immigrants.

Ps like others have said medicaid/insurance marketplace is not an immigration specialist..they only look at your income..not your immigration status. This is unfortunately why some do get medicaid because they think they are beating the system “well they let me sign up so I must qualify..”

To state the obvious the cost of medical insurance vs the amount needed to sponsor someone bears no relationship.

I'm sure it's not a problem and no one will be chased down. I have already read so much misinformation one this thread. If you choose to dis enroll from your Medicaid (silly) just go to your marketplace application and check that you are NOT applying for coverage and re run your application.  That will remove your eligibility determination and kick you out of your plan. Good luck

You do NOT become a public charge for accepting Medicaid. The proposed bill is NOT law. If it was to become law it would NOT be retro active. It does NOT include premium tax cradits. Oh Lord mass hysteria. It doesn't apply to ROC. Woman go have your baby in peace. I help pregnant immigrants get Medicaid every single day. I have NEVER heard of a sponsor being sued.

As stated in this thread, immigrants do NOT qualify for federal welfare benefits. Emergency Medical care is available, Medicaid for the US citizen baby is available, and certain states like NY have their version of Medicaid that is available to immigrants. But federal public charge benefits have not been immediately available to immigrants for years, even before the current president spoke about it. And because you have not seen it effect people, there are cases where immigrants who used public benefits having affected them.

It is clearly available to her in NE. The rules were posted above many of you just do not want to read them apparently. It is even available to undocumented pregnant women in NE. She already has a greencard so she can't be denied permanent resident status based on using it. Stop all this fear mongering. The baby is a USC and is entitled to the benefit.

That is what I said.

ETA: This is a short term option with most people are agreeing that for emergencies and childbirth (pregnant noncitizens) is covered. The problem is that using Medicaid for long term permanent healthcare is where the problems occur for noncitizens. This may include pre and post natal care.

I apologise if I misunderstood your meaning. It's important for the OP to understand just because people here are screaming be afraid be very afraid there is no need for all this nonsense. OP your husband has and will pay taxes for a long time as will you and you are entitled to the care. You won't be deported they will not come after your husband for the money. You don't need to listen to these people who get their info from Trump quotes. Some people here who are actually informed on policy have given actual advice. I suggest you accept the medicade and skip all the stress.

Sometimes certain states allow Medicaid for unborn USC children or pregnant mothers.  The OP doesn't qualify federally speaking but possibly does at a state level as previously linked in this thread.

I thought every State has Emergency Medicaid.
