Hello everyone. something about this g-325a is making me very nervous. I havent worked alot of jobs over the past few years. Im training to become a photographer under my dad. he doesnt pay me but lets me stay at his house. Kinda like an apprenticeship and I will take over the family business soon. Nothing on paper about it or anything as I dont work for him but basically just learn and practice with a camera. It takes ALOT of experience to become a good photographer, and Ive only worked seasonal jobs over the past few years. Ive taken large trips in winter to brazil to be with my fiancee. Is this going to be a problem with major gaps of unemployment? I do have a co-sponsor who does meet the income requirements. already lined up, so will that suffice? what do i do with the gaps of unemployment?

Just make sure there is no gaps in the 5 year timeframe. For periods of unemployment put 'unemployed' and the dates to and from.

When do you expect to be able to find a job? How steady and secure is that type of job? About how much money will you be able to make with the type of job you can get? Will you be able to support yourself and your fiance(e) alone until (s)he can get working papers?

I'm currently unemployed and hunting for a job. I won't send the application until I'm secured in a job that I know I'll be able to keep and is making enough for me to support my fiance and I once he moves here. The last thing I want, after all this stress, is to get him here and then we're in huge financial trouble because my job isn't secure and/or I can't afford us both.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! So when income does come into play during the interview, then what? it all falls on my co-sponsor? The co-sponsor I have makes more than enough, im sure.

Id like to know more about the suggestion of the statement about me being unemployed. Isnt saying ``unemployed´´ enough?

Yes. If you look at the form it even clearly states 'If NONE, state so'. Using 'None' though IMO would be entered if there was no employment at all in the 5 year time frame. If umemployed in between working one would just put umemployed ........with no need to verify such with any documentation.

Sponsorship (income) comes into play with the I-134. Keep in mind that the I-134 is only one thing that a Conof can use to determine if the applicant will or wont become a public charge.

We left gaps in my husband's employment record on the G-325A. No problems.

I think it's fairly obvious that if you weren't employed, then you were unemployed.

I have also noted posts of members receiving RFE's for gaps in time frames and overlaps. Its all up to the adjudicator. Why risk an RFE when it can be avoided.

So even with gaps in my employment, if i have a capable co-sponsor, I should be fine right? Ive never been a public charge or applied for any of the following. My co-sponsor is my cousin and he is a doctor with a very good salary. I should be in good shape then right, since the co-sponsor is basically bound by a contract? Or should I look for 2 co-sponsors to re-affirm this? I would use my parents as a co-sponsor but they had a bad net year 2 years ago when they basically bought thousands of dollars worth of equipment to upgrade their business. They still had a high gross though and my dad owns a 166 acre farm. is that considered an asset that can be turned to money? Id say so, because you can mortgage it right? How are assets factored in as opposed to income?

Paul, this is the I-134 not the I-864 which is more stringent........and you are honestly worrying too much :P I know that sometimes that is hard not to do in this process but you are fine. You have your cousin lined up.....they meet the requirements for the I-134.

Have you read here on the I-134 http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=305

Thanks for your support aussiewench! I know, i am worrying too much about this as this is the second time ive been told that since joining the board... I just love my fiancee so much and being denied is my worst fear. Its amazing what they put us through just to be with the person we love most. Im just going to try and relax and keep plugging away at the forms. Even though they confuse the heck out of me as you guys can see from my other threads

I know you want your honey to get the visa... but remember that she won't be able to work for a little while until she gets her working papers. You'll need to support the both of you. Will you be able to find a sturdy job with good enough pay from the experience you're getting with your dad now? Will you and your fiancee be able to save up enough money before she moves for the security deposit on an apartment, her transportation here, moving here, fees for the marriage AOS working papers and (if desired) advanced parole, etc.? Or is your cousin willing to help you with all of that? I'm worried about the application being approved but I'm even more worried about making sure I can support my love financially once he's here. I'm holding off on sending in the application until I've started a steady job with good enough pay. It kills us to have to wait but I'd rather we wait and are prepared for what's at the other end of the application rather than I get him here and can't support him.
