Hi all, just curious as to how many of you are/will be marrying into motherhood or fatherhood. I myself was not planning on having children for years to come, but plans changed when I met my SO and now I'm filling the shoes of a proud step-momma to a beautiful 4 year old girl.

Anyone else becoming a step parent, and how are you adjusting?

I became a step mother - however, my step-daughter is 36 years old. What is equally as nice, though, is that I became an instant grandmother - my step-daughter has an 11 year old daughter and and an 8 year old son- lucky me, yay!!! They are great and I enjoy being Nana Kathryn.

My husband became a step-father last year to both my kids. They adore him. Most days my son will call and talk to Andre and forget all about me.

I became a stepfather x2. I already have two beatiful daughters who happen to be the same age as my two new sons. A huge responsibility!!! One of the boys is a teenager and the other one is preteen - same as my girls. (Yes, send all your prayers my way). There has been a lot of adjustment and sacrifice for all of us and they all take most if not all of my time. Some days are rough and other days could not be sweeter. We are also going to have an exchange student arriving from Vitoria in brazil in August.

Congrats on your 4yr old

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

I became a step mum X 2 .. although I have to say.. they don't need another mum, so my role is and always will be to just love on them.. Their mum (that they live with full-time) is a wonderful mum and they are beautiful children.

It's an adjustment coping with all the ex factor/ 2 family situation .... let's just leave it there :)

I became the step-mom of a 6 year old little boy. He is a great kid. It took a little while for us to kinda test and establish some boundaries, but everything is great now...as for his mother, well let's just say we won't get into THAT subject!

My husband recently became a stepdad to my two boys ages 9 and 10. He's great at it! He doesn't try to be a replacement dad. My ex isn't the type of guy who likes playing with kids. He's a workaholic. The boys are enjoying having a man around who does like to do things with them.

Haha I hear you... it isn't really easy being the stepmommy when the children already have a mommy. I think my stance is similar to yours though, its easier on both sides for us to just be there for love and support rather than competing with the birth Mom. (Besides, just being responsible for dishing out the love and not having to be involved in the disciplining usually makes us the kids favorites :)

I am now the step-dad to a wonderful 16 year old boy. I have never in all my life met a more respectful, easy to get along with young man! Robin has been calling me Pop or Dad for 3 years now. He wants me to adopt him and I must say that sounds great!!!

I am the future step-mother of two girls. I have helped raise them while I lived there and we have a wonderful relationship. They called me Mom a few times, but I don't agree with that....they already have a mother, and I feel it would be disrespectful to her.

My husband became the stepfather to my now 8 year old daughter. She asked me, right after he arrived, what was she supposed to call him. I told her she should call him whatever she felt comfortable with. So to begin with she called him Joel. That has since progressed (rapidly I might add) to Daddy. He just beams with pride. :luv:
