RFE for something we're certain we sent?

Hello everyone! It's been a little while since I've posted, I'm getting used to life in the US and thinks are really wonderful with my husband, so I'm just pretty happy letting the AOS trundle along.

However, we got an RFE! The strange thing is that it's asking for something we're almost certain we submitted. It says:
"The Petitioner/sponsor, NAME, on Form I-864, Affidavit of Supports, must submit a complete Federal income tax return submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the most recent tax year."

Is this not the W2 form? We 100% included that in the original submission?
Since then, he's actually quit that job and got a new job where we now live, which is Chicago.
Should we get a copy of and resubmit that original W2 again, assuming they lost it, or are we missing something here?

Thank you so much for any replies! <3

No it is not the W2. It refers to a photocopy of the actual 2017 income tax return or most preferably, a IRS transcript of that tax return.

A W2 only shows your income and deductions. It does not prove you filed taxes.

You need to submit either an IRS Return Transcript or the 1040 form that you filed in 2017 with the w2s and or 1095 (if any). Unfortunately, the W2 itself is not a tax return form.  You can get the IRS transcript here https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Exactly - a W-2 doesn't show that you filed taxes. You need the 1040 + W-2 + any the schedules. Or just do a tax transcript.

The COMPLETE tax return required is a photocopy or printout of all the paper forms and schedules in your return PLUS wage statements such as the W2 or 1099.

Or get (order/print) an IRS supplied TAX RETURN TRANSCRIPT.

Oh okay, thank you everyone for your answers! I don't know much about the US tax system, so I left it in his hands, and he clearly overlooked it.
Thank you very much for the advice! ❤️

I got the exact same RFE, the difference is I actually sent in my IRS transcript, W2, paystub, etc. So it's clear they lost it.

Doesn't matter now, on monday I sent in every single tax document possible from the IRS website on my 2017 taxes. (there's 3 to 4 different categories on the IRS website and I pulled tranccitps from all of them) Plus tax returns and W2 from previous years.

They'll love the 15+ papers of tax documents I sent them and I doubt I'll be receiving any RFE on it again. 😉

Same situation here and I did the same, lol.

Seems like they are having troubles with tax files lately.

It's concerning to me because if they lose things like that, if they did not get accidentally shredded then they could end up in the wrong hands.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

That's a relief, thank goodness I wasn't the only one lol.

I was always a bit skeptic about some of the stories of USCIS losing paperwrook on people but now I've experienced it firsthand lol.

Let's all hope they don't lose it again

Yeah, not like our K1 where they lost our papers (they were sent to canada but no one had any idea where they were) for like two months. 😥

I was sweating it then.
