From what I see they are scheduling interviews roughly 5 months from the time Packet 3 is sent in. I just sent them an email and waiting for a reply. Will let you know if I hear back from them.

Sorry, I hate to say it but I would believe the latter than the sooner. Each month (starting in Jan.) I e-mailed them they told me it should be the following month and should not be much longer. Hopefully it won't take as long as me.

I kid you not - I am so stressed out right now. I also posted in the MTL timeline to interview about this. We need to leave Canada pretty soon (Bren finished school and we don't know how picky immigration Canada is in following up with who has finished and who has not, etc.), so we'll have to leave soon one way or another - and the idea of moving to separate countries does not make us happy. :crying::crying:

Ideas anyone?

Wow, so good to hear you finally have an interview day! I was thinking you'd never get an interview... and I felt bad for you cause you're already married and with a baby now too!!!

I would tend to believe latter rather than earlier too... :-\

I don't know how things are now, but last fall, they were pretty inconsisten with their answers: "don't know," "we're scheduling from May," "...scheduling from August," etc.

OK so their reply says no interview scheduled yet and it might be booked in the next 1-3 months. So their 5-7 months estimate sounds about right.

Montreal is running 6 months behind at the moment. They received our packet in early December, informed us on Feb 17th that we should expect an April interview, and in late April, when we inquired, were told it could be another 4 to 6 months. Needless to say, my Congressman and Senators became involved. At this point, we have been told to expect a late June or July appointment. You can find the actual email from my congressional aide in the MTL Timeline forum. From what I've seen of the timelines, some January Packet 3's have had appointments scheduled for June, so I don't know what's up with the first-come, first-served thing, but so far NOTHING has made sense out of Montreal. The ONLY thing we can hope for at this point is, that they are SO swamped, the State Department will send in a crew to help them catch back up to just being 4 months behind again.

Ditto. NOTHING makes sense. And yes, I wonder why the frack they have not called in for reinforcements. It's just really driving me more certifiably insane than I am. DRAT.

I have stated this before...... My wife used to work at the Main Dept. of State in DC (no longer does, but has many friends/contacts in various depts.) And no she didn't work with Immigration, lol Lets just say most dept. did not of too many employees, many were short, so it is not as if they had an exodus of people and I'm sure immigration is the same. And right now with immigration being a hot topic in the USA, hiring more people to work the case loads would not be to the benefit of the current gov't. Most people see immigration in a negative manner for some reason, lol Hope things speed up for everyone.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I was wondering when flames would respond to my cry for help, he he. I understand immigration being a hot topic and all that... I have become so paranoid as to believe that my nationality is being used against me (which shouldn't be, but you never know...). I just think that in ALL our cases, where our marriages/engagements are bona fide the process should be much more expeditious and easy for the USC. After all, I think it is their right to a)marry whom they choose (as long as it's girl vs. boy, but we won't go into that ;) ) and b)live with their family.

Thanks flames and all for your support - don't know where I would be without you.

Jeez, yes, a US citizen should just be allowed to bring anyone in, super idea, terrorists and radical militais in the USA would love that. lol

All i was stating is that the State Dept does not (always) have extra people sitting around, only real point I was making. I have first hand knowledge of the long hours somme of these people work with no or little paid OT, so sorry i try to defend them. One of our friends that works in the State dept works on refugee cases and works almost every day, with no OT, yes that is in part her decision 9she could find a new job, etc)

My wife and i did the long distance thing for over 2.5 years so I know being apart isn't that fun. Cheerio

My dearest flames  - you know I love you my Tim's man. I was not in any way trying to bash anyone or anything. I understand the need for national security, the understaffing and overworked government officials (used to be one, back in the day) - I really do. I am just frustrated with the whole waiting game. You do make an excellent point: Bren and me are both in Canada so that makes it less stressful than those who are separated. Hence I will enjoy this long weekend with my adorable USC husband.... doing what adults do on Victoria Day... he he he
