Hi all

Quick question about affidavit of support for a spousal visa, hoping for some clarification.

My husband (petitioner) doesn't have his 2017 tax return. Can we submit the 5 previous years and then submit 2017 when we get it or do they all have to be submitted together?

Many thanks in advance for your help,

Ina

Nvc does not require 5 years of tax return. You should have the last 3 years but you have to  submit the last year tax return which will be 2017. If he doesn't have the tax return you can get the tax transcripts from irs.

Thank you for the the clarification @Ann&James. We're trying to get the IRS transcripts so that we can go ahead. I guess I was wondering if everything had to be submitted together in one go (just trying to keep the application moving now).

Thanks

I don't believe you can become document qualified to be in line for an interview until all that is in.

Thank you so much @Khallafand @geowrian. I'll get the husband on to it asap. He's not the best at keeping his filing system in order and up to date 🙄

Thanks again

its super easy to sign up at IRS.GOV to get an online copy of the tax transcripts for 2017, provided they were actually completed.

sometimes things get forgotten *raising my hand* I just completed 2015 this year, so I am not judging anyone at all.

if he  has done the 2017 taxes all he needs to do is take his ID and ss card and walk into any SS office

he has to wait his turn to see a IRS officer but he can get a printed transcript same day
