Do we send the DS-156k to the consulate? Do we need to attach photocopies of all our evidence (birth certificate, passport, police certificate, etc)? Or do we just bring all of that in on the interview day, along with the unsigned DS-156k?

Please correct me if I'm wrong: we send in the completed checklist, we do the DS-156 online, print two pages and send them to the consulate, and then complete the DS-230 and send that in also.

I guess when you don't look at the immigration paperwork for a while, it's hard to start back up again.

From what I've been given in my Packet 3, you submit the DS-230 through fax to the consulate, then your checklist, then your DS-156 and unsigned DS-156K and keep those for the interview. The evidence (police certificate, birth certificate, etc.) can be brought to the consulate - both photocopy and original.

My info is for the Vancouver embassy so there may be slight variations. Hope that clears some confusion, though. :)

Bee - Devon PA, USA (he's the one who gave her the shiny ring)

Montreal is slightly different than Vancouver. Don't forget to check out the Embassy Information section: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...mp;cty=Montreal.

It looks like you've got it correct though.

You send the following BACK right away: Checklist, DS-156 (TWO copies, filled out online), and the DS-230.

You KEEP the rest until the interview (that includes the DS-156K). The same goes for all the supporting documentation: bring the originals and copies of your evidence with you to the interview.

guess i'll be typing out forms - and copying them - until i go cross-eyed once i get home, lol. hopefully i get a good phone call from my parents next week telling me my packet has been received.

hell, i just thought of something. since the forms are being faxed, it doesn't really matter where they come from, right? i'll just fill them out and fax them in from my fiance's while i'm here so that the interview can get scheduled faster. and now that i've found out you can *kind of* indicate the date you want your interview (for Vancouver) that works out well. i want them to move fast but not too fast since i won't be home until June 1 and still have to get my medical and police check done. if i could be moving by the end of June/middle of July, oh how happy i would be!!

First contact: Oct 14/06

First meeting: Nov 6-13/06
