NVC / USCIS ping-pong

We received NOA2 back on Sept 27.  When I didn't hear anything late October, I contacted NVC.  They said, to paraphrase, "oh yeah, here's your case # with us, but we sent your case back to USCIS.  Direct all further inquiries to USCIS"  No further details or explanation.

I received the printed letter this thursday, about a week after the phone call.

I called USCIS last week, understandably concerned.  USCIS says, in a follow-up email today "huh?  we approved your case and sent it on to NVC.  Send your inquiries to NVC."

Come on, guys.  I know the new administration is trying to dial back immigration, but this seems a pretty cheesy tactic.  The classic circle of "we don't have it, call the other guy."

Frustrated and can't do a thing about it but wait.

I think you will find that your case was approved at USCIS, reviewed by NVC, and then returned to USCIS...that is probably where it is now.   Trump had no part in that happening.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Sometimes the uscis assembles the petition file wrong and it gets sent back for correction.   No need to editorialize

YMMV

When NVC receives the approved I-129f from USCIS, they check to ensure that it’s been stamped. NVC is occasionally will receive a petition from USCIS and it does not have the appropriate approval stamp in the upper left-hand corner. They are also checking to make sure that the three criminal questions have been answered. He noted that there are times when the petitioner will forget to complete those questions and those questions are subsequently missed by the adjudicator.  In both of these instances the case will then be sent back to USCIS. If one of these things occur with a case file recently received from USCSI, NVC would know within the first week of receiving the case.

Please call USCIS and ask to speak to Tier 2 they can only give you real time update and keep calling them until they fix what need to be fixed and forwarded to NVC

I had previously called both NVC and USCIS, both blaming the other and saying to contact the other.  I went to the office of our US Senator on election day and gave her office the details of our case and the emails and call logs involving both agencies.

Magically, I received printed notice today that our case was re-affirmed without any explanation for the delay.  We are now back in flow after a month of delay.image.thumb.png.7e0a04732865fa3aa5e2d8c9381c1da3.png

Sounds like USCIS made an error with the file, NVC found the error, and now USCIS has corrected it.......hopefully, it will be a smoother ride...
