We had an interview today. It was interesting.

The IO only called my wife not both of us . Isnt that strange? I said my wife doesn’t speak English and he said with smiling face I speak Turkish. She went to the room by herself. He only asked some questions like are you terrorist etc and address and my mother names date of birth.

The interview took only 7 minutes and she was out. He did not say anything. Thank you very much and have a good day.

Is it normal? Usually both married couples go to the interview room. If it was stoke interview I should be called too that what I was expecting but I was not called either.

My my wife doesn’t speak good English and she came here with K1 visa. Our application was with uscis since June 1th 2017. 17 months.

Also so he did not look at ANY photos bank statements etc. Only passport and original of the marriage license. They already have some photos in the file. I have sent them while working on aos 2017.

What do you guys think?

Interviewer can talk to both or just the beneficiary.

As she doesn't speak English well, they wouldn't let you be the translator obviously cause you could make the answer anything so, the interview interpreted himself.

They can ask any questions they want and don't have to look at any other documents, photos, ect. Same as with a K-1 interview, they don't have to ask for anything more than what's in the original petition.

Doesn't seem all that strange honestly. Each interview differs from couple to couple.

I have been following this form long time and have seen always married couples go to interview together.

I have mentioned on 485 that the form was signed by my wife but translated by me.

I have seen that some people wait over 9 months after the interview. Don’t want to face that problem obviously.

Not sure I have ever heard of anybody been asked if they were a terrorist.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I don’t remember if they asked but as you know they ask those weird questions like are you communist or espionage etc. At least I told my wife about those questions before she said straight forward NO to all those questions.

Sounds like it's just a wait and see. I wouldn't put much stock into it since there really wasn't a lot of info after.

The terrorist question is in the forms. I believe it is something that is asked everyone (or on most forms).

of those differences between us, for it is not difference which immobilizes us, but silence.
And there are so many silences to be broken.”

My wife was asked the questions verbatim from the I-485 during her interview last week, which includes a couple questions regarding hijacking, sabotage, etc., or been a part of any organization involved with those activities. There's nothing there explicitly saying terrorist, but it's essentially the same thing. She was also asked if she was a spy, had murdered anyone, etc.

Anyway, as for the OP, sometimes they will only interview the applicant for AOS. It's not common, but it happens, and isn't a sign of concern IMO.

As of 05.21 am the new card is being produced.

If I went to the interview with my wife it would be slightly easier.

Yes it it is not common that the IO would only take the beneficiary to the interview.

Also just  a question. Who is is working at the uscis office in 5 o’clock in the morning.?? Looks like the uscis is open 24 hours a day.It is interesting. :)

So  what did she say?

Just a wild guess, but maybe he decided to only interview your wife to make sure she understood all those questions on the I485, because you stated that you had translated for her. He spoke her language, and was able to check her answers to these questions. And apparently that was the only concern he had, considering the short interview. I guess your AOS package looked good! Congrats!
