Congrats @Pengunista :D

Thank you! Oh and one more thing, remember all the passport photos we sent? Yeah, the pic they used for the combo card is the one from the biometrics one.

What's the most common question/statement you've heard about this immigration process from family/friends?

I think mine is "Can you vote on a Greencard?" (Which is obviously a no!)

People always seem to think that once you get the k1 visa and you get to the US, you're all done and good to go.

Little do they know all the paperwork is just starting and all you can really do is sit on your ### at home. 😂

Hello another tax question, I just found out I'm not eligible for the foreign income tax exclusion because I was employed in my country by the US government (Peace Corps). If I filed MFJ with my husband we would actually owe the IRS because money of me so we decided to file MFS. My question since I will no longer choose to be considered as a US resident, do I still need to 1) file taxes and 2) disclose my worlwide income?

Thanks again for the continued support this community offers.

Hi Guys,

Old app (egov.uscis.gov) says "New Card Is Being Produced"

while new app (my.uscis.gov) still says "Case Was Received".

I don't know if I should celebrate or update my timeline yet, but is this normal?

What's the most common question/statement you've heard about this immigration process from family/friends?

"So is your husband illegal?"

"When does he become a citizen?"

"Wait, he's not a citizen even though you're married?"

"What do you have to do now?"

"When will he start paying taxes?"

"When can he start working?"

"If I want him to do a job for me, can I put your name on the check to pay him?" (this has been asked on several occasions which we've declined every time, obviously)

I just get asked how's the process going.

When answering we're still waiting and it could take over a year, I get compassionate looks and an "Awwwww, that's too long".

Also once had this random in law, who asked if I would apply for the citizenship. I was like: "Dude, give me a break, I just arrived."

Btw, not long ago, before we signed up to the forum, I read a few members were sharing what they miss from home. I was eager to share what I miss: museums -and cultural activities in general-, public transport, health services, neighborhood and street markets, non chain stores and food! Despite being not that far from my country and having a HUGE mexican community around, I must tell you kids, what you know as mexican food, is not. Even when I cook, ingredients are not the same and there's things I simply can't find.

Common misconceptions about citizenship and marriage!!! And so many people trying to "help" financially, when really it isn't at all helpful.

I agree with citizenship; of course I'll probably want to one day, but at the moment I'm still missing the UK far too much

Agreed on food! Everything is so sweet here, and while Aldi has become my port of call for cheese, they don't have chili heatwave Doritos...and it's really difficult to find pickled eggs here!!!

I actually like when I look awful in pictures; that way when meeting in person, people can think I don't look that bad.

Now, if they look at my awful pictures and they say: "ah, you're photogenic!", then, I will cry.
