This thread is definitely one of my favourite places at present; I think I'd have lost my mind back in the K1 stage if there was no way to reach out to others.

Any foreign spouse needed to take a written AND DRIVER'S test for their Driver's license? My husband just took his 50 question written test after studying pretty diligently and now he is needing to take a physical Driver's Test. I don't know if this is protocol for all states but always some type of run around. He has an international Driver's Permit that he received as well before he came here just "incase" but after he drove down the road he got pulled over for his headlights not being on and the police officer didn't know much about that permit and just advised him to get his state license when he can.

I think it is pretty common protocol for most states.  Here in Washington, all immigrants except for Canadians from certain provinces and possibly Japan or S. Korea (?) do not have to take the road test.

On the plus side, our tax return looks pretty nice - my husband has promised to get me a decent phone and monthly deal as soon as it comes in! I'm still using my British phone for things!!

Oh look a bright side to all this craziness we got ourselves into! Hehe. I really like the people in this group and I know that we won’t all get our green card the same time (wouldn’t that be nice) but maybe if we create a November 2018 filer to ROC group/ thread, then maybe we can all help or learn something from people who gets to file it first. It’s always fun to have a group of people stressing out at the same time hahahahaha.

Now I've redone a search and there's a case 4 above mine and 8 after mine that were approved today!! They definitely seem to be working on some more November cases :)

I hope my RFE won’t delay my EAD/AP combo card.  I applied originally on Nov 2 and my fingerprint for the EAD was reviewed on Dec 6.

My RFE was received on Dec 10.  So excited 😬😬😬 hopefully We see more approvals soon.

Just got an update that my work permit is being produced. No word on AP yet, thought it was combo but not yet? We'll see, I'm not too worried about AP. Lots of updates in the November thread right now!!

Hahaha - I literally just checked the new site just in case. It's a bit of a pain, though, because of two step verification so half the time I forget about it...

I'm going a bit loopy waiting for it too! To be honest, as with the K1, it's worse now that people are getting approvals, I think. I'm also a bit worried I'll get my EAD approved tomorrow, and then have to refile my taxes because it includes an application for an ITIN but I might get my SSN in the middle of that application.

One thing is definitely abundantly clear. There are too many acronyms!!!!!!

Hi. I would like to ask regarding filing of income tax of your spouse. Were you included as dependent? What if you, as the dependent, doesn't have SSN or itin? Did you apply for an itin? Or how does your accountant did to add you as the dependent?

No, I'm not listed as a dependent, we married filing jointly and yes; I applied for an ITIN. :)

From what I've read, the AP often doesn't update online, but you'll get the combo card in the mail. :) Congratulations!!!! :D

Now back to obsessively checking my own status 😂

I just don't get how the NBC is currently approving. My received date is 11/23 and there was a case (4 above my number) on the old site app check that got approved today. I just shrug my shoulders and wander their approach LOL

We're timeline buddies! Also have a Nov 23rd received date. And also very confused about where NBC is at - my husband is almost at the end of his rope waiting for the combo card. I don't know exactly how much time he's spent updating his LinkedIn profile and resume, but it has to be >50 hours by now.

Yes if you want to file married filing jointly you will have to send in an application for an ITIN with your paper filed tax return (you cannot e-file) if you do not have an SSN (see why applying for an SSN within 14 days of arrival is important?). You will also need to make a election to be considered a resident alien for the entire tax year to report your world wide income which you then can exempt if under $103900 on a 2555EZ.
