Yeah, typically, the written Test in my opinion is a bit more complicated than the actual physical Test but it all depends on the instructor you get that day in my mind. I was wanting to have him ask as well if he could just transfer his foreign license to a license here but with only needing to do one more step we will probably just continue with the protocol. At least we don't have to wait for the Green Card.

I actually didn't have to parallel park during my test 14 years ago! So you may not have to do that! You never know.

One can definitely hope! My husband said his entire test was done in the parking lot of a strip mall - but to be honest I'm not sure if that would be worse; people don't tend to drive well in mall parking lots!

We had the runaround last week, and have another appointment tonight (this one took my passport for ITIN so hopefully she actually knows what she's doing).

Next year will hopefully be so much easier!!!!

Likewise! I at least have a social security number for my spouse which is nice and we were able to get his tax forms from his home country in order to reflect his worldwide income from prior to when he arrived here. At this point, I'm just basically wanting to get this filing over with and if they do it right or somewhat right I'm okay with it after witnessing not a lot of people have run across this and just accepting the fact that there's the "gray" area in the accountant's mind. I have the 2555EZ form too that I believe we need to fill out so we will see!

You will need to fill that in if you want to exclude any income he earned last year in is country...

You may also want to look into whether he needs to declare his account(s) with the treasury (FBAR/FinCEN Form 114) - I think it is required if the highest value of each account all added together totals over $10,000. It's really dumb because it doesn't take into consideration whether money has moved or not...but hopefully your accountant will be able to tell you if it's necessary!

Hey! Did you try Turbo Tax? They were really good we thought. We did initially try H&R Block but it never worked out

So awesome to see some early November filers getting approved. I'm just confused at where USCIS is currently working on? I'm assuming September, October, touching few early November filers. It's a mind field LOL. I'm going to try running some reports on the app to see! I forgot all about being able to do that...

Yeah, if people haven't already I would check out Turbotax. We ended up getting the deluxe version as this includes the ability to report foreign income and also exclude it. We haven't heard back from the IRS yet (so hopefully it's all okay) but I would definitely give Turbotax a go!

Also, as mentioned above, also very key to get the FBAR done before April (you file electronically online) if at any point in the previous financial year your foreign accounts had an aggregate balance of $10,000 or over.

We can't really do turbotax because of my ITIN requirement; I am NOT sending off my passport only to have to wait for 8 weeks to get it back. H&R Block was our only option, sadly (but they really are pains in the butts.

Also yes. Aggregate; which if you're not booksmart like me and aren't 100%, means added total of the highest value in each account.

Congrats!! I think USCIS will send you one if you don't already have a SSN.

I got approved today! My case status changed from "Case was received" to "New Card Is Being Produced" 5 minutes ago. Hang in there November filers. It's happening!

Congrats to both of you!

Just curious if you guys were expedites? I'm seriously confused on where USCIS is with their processing as dates keep jumping from Sept-Nov LOL...

So, if my husband has a Savings Account that is over $10,000 from his home country he has to inform the US that he has that bank Account? I wasn't aware of this or don't see the relevance of why the government here needs to know those types of things.
