I applied and got a job as a cashier at a nearby supermarket (no need to drive, yay) the next day! Even though it is a real step down from my previous career path, it is still great to help my husband earn money :)

Part-time in Hobby Lobby pays well, my husband said, so if you have one nearby, it may be a good idea.

If I worked at Hobby Lobby I wouldn't come home with a paycheck.

My husband works at Michaels full time as a manager (I don't know if it is all over the US, but it's a competitor if not), so if I shopped at Hobby Lobby it'd probably be some weird kind of betrayal....but I can agree from the perspective of not having a paycheck...they're both really good.

If it makes you feel better, I am a December filer and mine is still finger print received. I know people on here that are early december and early january and they all never had more of an update that fingerprint received.

Thanks 😊 It certainly helps knowing we’re not an isolated case.

I guess our biggest frustration comes from the fact that, despite being at one of the fastest local offices, we haven’t been lucky enough to enjoy an early interview.

One can’t help but think of worst case scenarios.

Any foreign spouse needed to take a written AND DRIVER'S test for their Driver's license? My husband just took his 50 question written test after studying pretty diligently and now he is needing to take a physical Driver's Test. I don't know if this is protocol for all states but always some type of run around. He has an international Driver's Permit that he received as well before he came here just "incase" but after he drove down the road he got pulled over for his headlights not being on and the police officer didn't know much about that permit and just advised him to get his state license when he can.

As far as I am aware, every state is different. In Massachusetts, you can transfer a German license to MA state license (but only after you have a green card) and in the meantime you can use your foreign license for up to a year as long as it's in English. If the license is not in English you have  to either have an International Drivers Permit or have the license translated to English via an official MA RMV form.

It seems like you're already down the path to getting your State license but you could also double check with your State's DMV/RMV to see if you're able to transfer your foreign license and therefore could avoid any further testing. If you don't transfer a license then it's standard to have to do a written and physical test. Might be worth it to just do the physical test at this point if that's all you have left to do. Good luck!

Yeah - that's the rule here in Florida too, I have to retake my written and physical driving tests, despite having a full license from the UK. It's a real pain in the rear end - I haven't had to parallel park since before I took my UK test, so no doubt it will be in the test here! 😂

Yeah, typically, the written Test in my opinion is a bit more complicated than the actual physical Test but it all depends on the instructor you get that day in my mind. I was wanting to have him ask as well if he could just transfer his foreign license to a license here but with only needing to do one more step we will probably just continue with the protocol. At least we don't have to wait for the Green Card.

I actually didn't have to parallel park during my test 14 years ago! So you may not have to do that! You never know.
