Our lease ends at the beginning of August, I think, but I want a house by the end of the year. I might ask my parents if we can stay with them for a few months so we don't have an awkward lease period. I dont think they'd mind and my mom has already been sharing all her house ownership knowledge that she's gathered in the past 25 years. We have the start of a good sized down payment, but that amount will go down some since we have a few trips planned (Black Hills over Memorial Day weekend, and then back to the UK in July assuming AP has been issued, which it should be by then).

We have enough for a downpayment, but until I'm working too, my husband doesn't really earn enough for a mortgage which is why we've been renting with roommates (they'd said they would rent with us for a year and then we could both be looking to buy around July/August- but i guess they changed their minds. XD

That sounds like a neat little plan, though! Fingers crossed that you get a place for the end of the year!

Hahaaa I was trying to upvotes those posts and wondering what happened...

I'm confused as to why I got my interview scheduled so fast, processing time for my office is 8.5-18 months.. not complaining, but it's weird. They did just shorten the processing times, last I looked at it it was up to 24 months I think. I wonder if they're scheduling interviews far in advance? I have no clue. My K1 application got expedited, but I don't think that affects AOS.

What's your local field office? (Your timeline is a bit confusing as to where that is). Sacramento?

It's Sacramento, CA.

^^is 8 to 17 months for family based AOS (you have to scroll to the bottom).

Seems a bit quick but that's what we were talking about earlier....it seems like they give preference to K1s as, up until May 15th, 2018, K1s didnt even have to be interviewed. Since they changed the rules that we now have to be interviewed, it seems like they are trying to cut us some slack seeing that we have just been interviewed recently.

Welp, yay for us K1 filers! No complaining here, although it's time to start collecting evidence as it's not something we were even remotely worried about before. Thought we had way longer 😅

Hello people! We've been thinking of signing up since we started this tortuous path year and a half ago when we filed for the K1, but we’re not too keen regarding social media, so we postponed it...until today.

We filed for AOS on 16/nov/18, and to this day, our status still reads “fingerprint fee was received” with NO updates since 28/nov/18.

Needless to say, we are BEYOND frustrated *readpissedoff* especially taking in account that our local office is one of the quickest (some members at the same LO got the interview 3 months after filing!).

In our view, this is the right place to vent all our rage, as, in our experience, no one understands this process unless they have been through it (and by this point we DO NEED to vent).

Right now, at the paranoid phase we’re at, we either think someone hates us and is intentionally delaying our process or our file is on the desk of the laziest agent.

P.S.: We did not find where to fill our timeline.

Join the club.

EAD/AP is 4 to 6 months. Your status will only update for that if your application is approved.

GC depends on the processing times of your LFO. Your status MAY update when it's ready to be scheduled for an interview and then again when it has been scheduled. That could take months or years for the I-485 depending on your LFO. Until then we blindly wait.

My LFO waiting times according to VJ is around 330 days, so if we do get an interview I'm not expecting anything until October 2019. That's okay, my bigger worry is EAD/AP as with those in our hands we are able to function rather normally. Just hoping November filers' AOS journeys are quick and painless.
