Right! When we were poor in my family when I was really young, we frequently had sausage mash and gravy because it was a cheap meal.

Hahaha, Bird's Mustard. Can you imagine pouring mustard on a steaming hot Apple Crumble, the horror 😂. Speaking of Custard, it's been to my horror that local to me is about 4-5 different Custard restaurants...all of which serve Custard frozen. I had no idea until I moved that Americans are horrified at the thought of hot custard.

The frozen custard thing is ice cream!  And it is definitely regional.....we don't have it here in Seattle.

Anybody from N.J. get their EAD/AP approved yet? Or have gotten an interview date?

EAD and APs are being issued for September and up until Oct 11th as of today. Filing location is irrelevant for the EAD or AP as they are all processed at the NBC in MO. The current processing times are 4 to 6 months with most waiting 5.5 months.

Anyone getting the run around for taxes? I’ve now had 2 accountants turn me down because they didn’t feel comfortable with filing married jointly due to the international income. He actually wanted me to file single because technically he isn’t a resident yet, I’m like are you crazy?! That’s just asking for a denial at our interview. Anyone do H&R Block? Turbo tax? Did you need to get the worldwide income and taxed amount?

I had an RFE which was received on Dec 10, 2018.  So should I reset and start counting from December? Since this affects the EAD/AP processing too despite those dates being received on Nov 2?

I just told our accountant what to do.

We filed MFJ. Can only paperfile.

I wrote up a Non Resident Alien election to be Resident Alien Letter which we signed.

Filled out 2555EZ to report my WW income.

And then I'll just fill out FBAR on my own to declare my overseas bank account.

The accountant did all the normal stuff.

Not restart but add the days of delay on to your tally.

PS if they want you to file single punch him in the face, tell him to go back to school and run.

"Get the WW income" what do you mean? Report the amount in US Funds? Yes you do that on the 2555. You just need your gross income amount (I think). It's very simple. And then, depending how much your WW income is it gets deducted from your spouses income and not taxed. Take a look at the instructions for the 2555EZ.

I'll be going into a H&R Block office on Thursday; the lady we've scheduled for is supposedly specialised in ITIN and Foreign Income taxes, but those forms and the medical exclusion form are relatively straight forward. It's the tax return itself I don't understand! I can let you know how it goes, I can't imagine it's going to be cheap, though...

ROC Timeline:

Date format is MM/DD/YY

05/16/19 - Green Card Issue Date

03/10/21 - Sent ROC paperwork to Phoenix, AZ | USPS 2-Day Shipping

04/07/21 - NOA1 Text Messages Received

I've done my taxes in Canada since the 6th grade and I looked at the instructions for the US taxes but all i saw was a bunch of "but"s and "if"s. Like seriously, no wonder US taxpayers are mad because it seems like there are loopholes on every line. Why you gotta be so complicated?

I've never had to do my own taxes, it's done for us in the UK. But even then...there should be a questionnaire or something that tells you what forms you need 😂

There is a questionnaire. Surely you'll fill it out at H&R if the preparer does not do it for you.

It'll probably get done there, I just meant there's no questionnaire on the IRS website

Hi you said you could only paperfile. Is that because of having a pending AOS or because of not having a SSN? I have a SSN and wonder if I can just file online using Turbo Tax

Hello all, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am just unsure, so I thought I might ask here. Our status for the I-485 application is " Case is ready to be scheduled", our local field office is Newark, NJ and the currebt processing times are 10.5 to 21.5 months. My question is, does the 10.5 to 21.5 month processing time start after we have put in the initial application or after our case goes to "Ready to be scheduled" status? Again, sorry if this is a stupid question, but we were unsure. Thanks for any replies.

Start from your N01st. In the other words, your processing time starts from the date on “letter that they received you case”.
