What about you?

I 2nd that decent cheese. I can barely tell the difference between mild cheddar, sharp cheddar and extra sharp cheddar...and they are orange. The Aldi by me does have imported made in England Red Leicester though! Bit pricey mind you

Hello, can my husband file his taxes n claim me without an ssn r itin ?

You can not file a joint return without your having a SSN or ITIN.  He can, however, file Married Filing Separately by writing "NRA" in the spouse's SSN field.....the return will have to be mailed.

  • Cheap fruit/veggies
  • Bathroom cubicles without any form of panel gap and that reach the entire way down to the floor
  • British sense of humour. Americans are a lot more sensitive

Agree with all! The second one made me laugh and cry. It is seriously something so simple but to which I still can't get used to...)

Hahahahaha same, I avoid public bathrooms like the plague. Can't get used to it, it's too weird!

I also can't get used to Americans greeting you by saying "how are you?". Just say hi, we both know you don't care about how I'm doing and I don't really want to ask about how your day is going in return. 🤷‍♀️ Also saying "excuse me" when you pass someone in a store aisle or wherever, even though there is plenty of space and you can pass the other person with ease.

In other words, I miss the European standoffishness 😂 I find it hard to connect to Americans, can't tell when they're being polite or actually interested.

Excuse me for coming across as the world's grumpiest person lol.

Or even jumping from a person next to you if you didn't notice they were there, or waiting very far from the aisle to take a look after somebody else.

It's great to know it is not my barbarian Russian nature! :)

Oh, you have Red Leicester? 😮 We have English cheddar in ours (it's normal coloured!!!) and not gonna lie, it's super expensive but it tastes so good. It really isn't feasible for cooking with though because it's such a small slice 😢

Do you have a butchers near you? The one by us knows how to make English sausage and will make it to order for a relatively reasonable price - might be worth investigating? :)

We have red leicester, and mature cheddar - both from england! It's a fairly small block for about $4.39 each. Whenever I feel like I miss home more I might grab a red Leicester and make cheese on toast, and skip the lea perrins on it 😂.

The closest thing I've found to authentic sausage are these guys: https://www.balsonbutchers.com/products/honey-pork but $9 for 5 seems very steep considering what my butchers back home would give me for £5.

This place looks promising too: http://wernerswurst.com/sausage/1246576 but they are about 40miles from me.

The closest place I know that my wife has tried is here: https://brownesirishmarket.com/ since she bought sausage here when she made a full english for her family. Steep prices again though. I feel like a group of us expats should band together and make an authentic English pub with all English food. I love the US, but they can't quite get our food right. What I'd give for a Wetherspoon over here to get my cheap breakfast 😥

Wetherspoons! I miss that place, and I never thought I'd say that XD I made the mistake of going to an "English" pub. Looked the part but the food wasn't quite right. Couldn't say whether the beer was any good either as it was the middle of the day an hour from home.

Given that I worked for one, I never thought I'd miss it either! The breakfast is one of the items that's not microwaved. Just couldn't beat those sausages. We went to NYC for New Years Eve and I had seen an 'English Pub' as it was advertised. Gave it a miss when I saw the menu and prices. https://www.theshakespearenyc.com/menus/ They have 1/2 dozen scotch eggs for $50! Highway robbery considering back at Morrisons or Tesco I could pick up a dozen for around £3! Suffice to say, I have a large 'to-go' and 'to-eat' list for my visit home over the summer.

Oh wow, they are expensive prices! $22 for a basic sausage and mash?!

And I hope they mean custard;
