You didnt come across as snobby but I will, lol. The poster we are trying to help doesnt have any of these things because she doesnt have an SSN. (Scroll up).

You don't need an SSN to open a bank account. Bank of America allows you to open a bank account with SSN.

Some banks you do. You cant make a blanket statement that an "SSN is not needed to get a bank account". If they want a bank account at a bank that requires an SSN, they will require an SSN.

It is kind of idiotic to try to open an account with a bank that requires SSN if you don't have one don't you agree?

Not really. As an example, I'd like to have a joint account with my husband, but his bank requires you to have an SSN or and ITIN. We don't want to move banks because we have a great deal with them, at the moment, as it is a military bank.

Why would I open an account for a few months, only to then close it?

Someone from USCIS called me from unknown number and told me that interview has been cancelled (even if i got several days ago a letter about rescheduling) and informed me that i will get two more letters from them soon in the mail: one will be regarding the cancellation and later on one more following regarding the new date of the interview.

So timeline as the following:

First interview appointment received on 29 January (for 05 March)

Second letter of rescheduling recieved on 23 Feb (for the same date different time) but was dated 20 Feb

Got call from USCIS today 25 Feb regarding the cancellation of reacheduled interview.

This is definitely true. Chase made our lives so difficult (many trips even though I was fortunate enough to get a SSN) to get me added on Jake's account. I think at the very least in the US in my opinion, regardless of processing times, ALL K1 beneficiaries should get a SSN as they have followed everything correctly. So unfortunate that's not always the case :(

Sorry guys new here... Had a question... We filled for AOS November 21 and now received interview date on March 21... But our medical exam from Philippines expires March 13... Are we going to have to retake it? Thanks

I think maybe when u go to the interview they will tell u to do one and then send it in before they issue the card.. Where you have your interview?

As long as you FILED your I485 within one year of your overseas medical date, you do not need a new medical. It is not expired and will never expire if you filed AOS within one year. The time it takes to get your interview is irrelevant.

They wont need another medical if their overseas K1 medical was complete and their AOS application was filed within one year from their medical date. There are MANY posts on this same topic if you use the search bar.

Maybe u need to use the search bar.... Even if u filed within within 1 yr, some IO let u do a new 1 and send it in. I have a fren n thats what happen to her so i know what am saying...

Saying that "maybe" that will happen to the OP when you didnt explain that happened to your one friend and why it happened to your one friend, isnt helpful. It happens to ppl for sure for many reasons. USCIS lost the original medical package, the DS3025 was not filled out correctly, you end up with an IO who hasnt read the USCIS policy manual as per how K1s are exempt from a new medical. But it's not worth redoing your medical in advance because it's rare that that happens. And it's definitely not fair to not explain that to the OP because they could be feared into redoing their medical for nothing.
