Maybe it would be better applying for an extension and getting the 10 years green card instead of the 2 years conditional. That way you'd skip ROC, which from what I've read, is the truly scary one.

You cannot skip ROC. It's a must.

Less focus on the wait and more on the weight?

I've put on a few pounds I think too, to be fair...

I do focus on both the wait and the weight: check on our status daily and eat like there's no tomorrow.

I won't look like myself by the time we get the interview. :P

You can if by the time you get the interview, it's been 2 years since marriage, which is the case for a few local offices. In such cases, you get the 10 years green card instead of the 2 years conditional, therefore, no ROC.

No, I think they're on about if Jakejon doesn't get his greencard before the two years of marriage passes, then they'd get their 10year, not the 2 year. Of course, I think they'd have to provide evidence of those two years all the same as ROC.

ROC Timeline:

Date format is MM/DD/YY

05/16/19 - Green Card Issue Date

03/10/21 - Sent ROC paperwork to Phoenix, AZ | USPS 2-Day Shipping

04/07/21 - NOA1 Text Messages Received

And in such case, even needing that extra evidence, you save the fee and the waiting time for ROC, which is LONG. I think it's not a bad outcome for those who are at saturated local offices.

Longer time waiting for naturalisation though!

Hmmm, good point. 👉 Never thought of that.

I'm thinking I will too, get rid of USCIS asap 😂

Hello my fellow November filers!  I got a pleasant surprise today! My case was scheduled for an interview! Today marks day 137. I did not receive the combo card.

November 21, 2018 - NOA1

December 10, 2018 (walk in) - biometrics

April 3, 2019 - “ready to be scheduled for an interview”

April 4, 2019 - “ interview was scheduled”

Local office: San Diego

Thank you to VJ members for helping me kept my head up and especially @jakejon who’s words are so encouraging, it plays such a powerful role in staying positive throughout this long and somewhat daunting experience. I love the energy you bring into this community, so thank you. You’ll be next 🤞😊

What are you adjusting from? Tourist visa?

I just want to get an interview scheduled. The feeling I get looking at others from my same LO getting it while we're basically non existent, is not pleasant AT ALL.

I'll think of naturalization when the time comes.

Last time I was in San Diego in July '17 I wore no sun screen. It's so beautiful there! Loved the pier. Let's just say my fair Irish skin was like a baked tomato during my visit :P
