What if we can't meet financial requirements?

I and my fiancee have been 'together' for nearing three years. He resides in UK and I live in Arizona, USA. Our relationship began and developed online, and for two weeks in December '06 we holidayed together in Holland. (search username Iruparazzo on YouTube to see some video of us together ^^) We've been pursuing our dream of being able to live together as a normal couple but have come upon a rather crippling snag - neither of us meets the financial criteria required for sponsorship; neither of us qualify for either US or UK sponsorship. Neither of us also carry the potential to meet these qualifications anytime soon, as neither of us has the education to do much better.

This is a pretty depressing situation and we have no projected outlook on when if ever we can be together. No one we know is willing or capable of co-sponsoring. There are many details which I can go into later, I just wanted to get this out there and off my chest, as I am at such a loss as to where to turn for help.

The desire to live in the life I dream and the fear that it will always be a dream has become crippling. I really just need one ray of hope, it's the biggest issue of my life and I don't know how to solve it.

Easy there, your not the only one with this problem. You must make at least just over $16,000 in order to qualify. BUT if you have any family members, e.g, mon, dad, bothers or sister, uncles even friends that can co-sponsor you and your fiancee, then thats more than enough but I think its better for you to make that money. I work part-time at UPS and I made just over $19,000. So I made just enough...look around and find out who can help you. There is some hope left for you guys!

Neither me nor my husband met the criteria either, my mom co sponsored for us and we got the visa. Ask one of your family members or a close friend you know can trust you and will say yes.

There is no magic answer. If you don't meet the criteria and cannot get a cosponsor, you will not qualify. Noone can truthfully provide you with any other solution.

My suggestion is don't get so down, where there is a will there is a way. You need so much as a job that pays $8 an hour to meet the financial requirement for one year. Set a goal for yourself if you truly want to be together and stick with it. It might take a year it might take two but at the end of the immigration process it is worth it.

It took my husband and I nearly two years to get over all of our hurdles, financial, divorces setting up a home etc. It wasn't easy but we did it for ourselves and we have now been living happily ever after together in the states for nine months.

That was pretty freakin rude!! The OP was asking for advice and explaining her feelings. The purpose of VJ is for just that. its a community to share your feelings and get SUPPORT! If you dont like reading ppl's feelings and worries, then by all means, by pass it and move on. a simple answer to the question would have been good enough, telling the OP to stop having a pity party was completely uncalled for. geez

she posts ONE time on her sistuation and shes given the answer shes needed, there no need to attack her for being emotional. this is an emotional period of her life, why tell her to stop and just let her get it out instead.

geez, the more i come on here, the more i notice ppl becoming more heartless by the day.

just bc we few have gone thru this process and are done or almost done, does not mean we cant understand what first timers are going thru. Lets not forget we have all been there, and have all been emotional, and have all had self pity parties once in awhile during the immigration process. just bc you dont need to go thru it anymore, doesnt mean you cant allow others to be emotional about their situations.

Petting a dog is soothing for the dog but if painful vetinary care is what is needed, you do the dog no favor by ignoring its real needs. You live your life and help your way. HAHAHA ok grandpa im giving put downs! i didnt tell you to stop giving yourself a pity party when you were in need of support.

Telling someone to stop having emotions while in a depressed state already over their situation is just cold. All she wanted was an answer to her problem, not a lecture on how to feel. Im sure once she gets the answer she needed she will calm down, but for now shes upset and worried, the results will come from the support that was given when she is ready to calm down, not when shes told to.

The financial restrictions exist for valid reasons... if you cannot improve your income level and do not have a co-sponsor, you will not qualify. Your only other option would be to move to the UK.
