Ours ran $900 for the DVD proofs (without annoying watermarks) and included as well a couple of 8 X 12's and 5X8's free but then all extra prints and photo albums ( the album he did offer us at wholesale) were extra. With the DVD he said we could create our own photo's and album if we wanted to. Cristina's brother is a semi pro photographer and has created many wedding album's for friends in Spain. When we get "roundtuit" he will do our's as well.

All done for the next 10 years...

Now more then ever..."and Miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep"

The photographer was selected by the chapel staff (I told them I wanted a CD of the images but I guess they "forgot") and they did not give me the prices and policies of the photographer. I'll estimate that the photographer took ~200 shots. The photographer has given me 100 proofs (72 dpi with watermark) and about half were duplicate poses so there are maybe 50 usable images. The work was just average. I haven't bought any prints yet.

They will only give me the CD if I buy $5000 in prints. I offered to buy a portion of the digital images and they refused. I'd be happy to buy about $1000 worth of prints (out of the 50 usable shots they gave me) if they would include the the CD with it. They won't do that, so I'll just buy $500 or so in prints and they will lose the extra revenue.

Bascially I'm screwed here. I didn't get anything in writing. If I push them and complain too much they can cut me off and refuse to sell me anything. I can't afford to do that because these photos are very important to my wife and me. So, all I can do is get the photos we want, then take our complaints where appropriate. Unfortunately the prints will take 6-8 weeks, so I can't complain too loudly until then.

Still disgraceful....However, if you still have the CD with the watermarks, even though the dpi is bad, if you want, zip the lot of them and I'll happily see if I can edit out the watermark in Photoshop for you....Just PM me for my email if they'd be any use to you...

Wow, thanks for the offer! Kindness from a stranger always brightens my day.

Yes, the digital proofs are 72dpi and suitable for websites or very small prints. We took out the watermarks with PSP. As for high resolution prints, we made a list of 20 or so images that we like and will order 8x10 prints for those. BTW, you would be amazed at the results you can get from a 100 dollar scanner like the Epson V100, scanning a 8x10 print at 300dpi. ;)

$5000 is way too much.

The event coordinator probably chooses someone he/she is friends with or gets a portion of the photographer's fee. This is often how that works.

Exactly ! The coordinator was getting a referal fee and I am sure knew the prices in advance.

At least a good coordinator should know and look out for the client.

This is ridiculous. I could buy a nice used car for that !

I agree word of mouth travels fast and I would point that ot to them.
