friends

I have an emergency question, plz let me know if there is an appropriate thread to ask, or help if you already know the answer:

I am November filer, like ya'll.  my drivers license getting expired 8 days from now, and my GC extension letter will be expired in August 2020. today I went to DMV to renew my drivers license but they said the system does not accept your info. they said you got to bring another extension letter or your actual 10 years GC.

I said you can renew my drivers license with the same expiration date as my GC extension letter, but they said it is not possible.

I called USCIS , they said we do not know what to do, they said you got to call back on Monday and talk to tier 2.

any solution?

Hmmm that's weird. I had my DL extended up until the expiry date of my extension later.

My advice, which obviously should only be taken at face value is to go back to the DMV, talk to someone more senior or go get an I551 stamp on your passport from USCIS.

When I was extending my DL. I had a lady who was a new employee who didnt know what to do with my extension letter. Luckily her colleague was passing by who was more tenured and knew exactly what to do and helped her out.

We are WAC filer too, never transferred. No update yet. Hopefully soon.

I noticed many applicants (September and October 2018) don't update their info after being approved. It's really hard to get a real estimation of how many people get approved in a period of time.

Hopefully we get this done really soon.

thank you for the advice. I think they made some mistake on expiration date of extension letter, or so.

do you know if USCIS allow me to go for infopass?

If you mean and know that there is a definite mistake on the extension letter, then you should be able to get an infopass and get your passport stamped.  If your extension letter has no mistakes on it, you should be able to get a DL expiring on the date of expiration of the letter.  I know people who issued a DL for only 3 weeks in the past.  Maybe that DMV person did not know what she was talking about or possibly that one DMV office is not adequately trained to deal with situations like yours so you need to try a different DMV office.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. They have the information we need. It's okay. We'll get through this together. I checked some receipt numbers and noticed that the last approval wave is around the last week of October right now. I don't want to get our hopes up, but I think if anything, January and February is when we'll hear good news. Let's keep each other posted.
