DO NOT leave the country unless you have your passport stamped by USCIS or you have the hard copy of the NOA 1.

If you get the NOA 1 in time you must carry your Expired Green card and the 18 month extension letter with you (NOA 1)

if its true from state to state as well, how do I get my Canadian passport stamped?

By law we have to carry the Green Card with us AT ALL TIMES.

You have to book an InfoPass with USCIS. You can do that online.

Hi Venus,

The only thing I have included that I sent for I-485 is a copy of the marriage certificate, which is not required but I sent it anyways. 

I sent joint documents from the month we got married (July 2016) up until October 2018.

I also sent our marriage certificate, as well as a copy of my (U.S. Citizen) passport bio page, birth certificate, and SS card. Again, not necessary, as they are supposed to already have that stuff from previous applications. However, I felt like I wanted to make it extremely obvious that it was a joint application and I wanted them to have that stuff on hand just in case.

That's actually a good idea thanks! one more question, If I traveled outside the country should I include copies of the passport pages with stamps on them???

I did, but only for the trips we took together, as proof we travel together. I scanned on the same sheet of paper my passport and his passport next to each other showing entry/exit stamps for two trips that we took together. 

 

In general, I have a running document in my computer documenting the exact dates that my husband was out of the U.S. since he arrived here on the K1 visa, along with why he left the country during those times. This is something you'll have to add to the naturalization N-400 application a year down the road. Easier to keep track of that now than trying to recall that information later!

when you do filling, please do not send 1000 pages documents. Try to stay to the topic as much as you can. it is unnecessary to send 2 years of bank statements, earning statements, credit cards etc. Officers when they review your document, they look for legitimacy  of the documents. for example, if you are enter to the marriage in good faith and if your wife or you got pregnant or have child, these are the best documents that you can send. keep it mind, don't give hard time to officers they do not like it unless your case is complicated.

You will not be asked to show your green card traveling from state to state.  Any ID that the TSA accepts will be more than sufficient.  You are technically required to carry your green card at all times, but aside from traveling outside the country, I have to imagine almost all LPR's do not carry their cards.

that is abit of a relief , but I am still hoping that the NOA1 comes in before I go on my trip that way it removes all sorts of stress lol, I got that email so now I am just waiting for the physical copy
