sounds like eczema to me. i have it and since i've moved here to ny its gone way out of control. i scratch my legs to death in certain areas. i also get it on my elbows but not often. the doctor prescribed me a steroidal itch cream. works great. but that was years ago and i've long run out. so when it flares up i use a hydrocortisone cream you can buy at the pharmacy. definitely keep moisturized and use gentle soaps and things on your body.

I have psoriasis, and the only thing that works for me is NOXEMA!!!!!

Try it, Alex, it works for eczema too (no eczema --> noxema).

I use it morning and night followed by cetaphil lotion and I save a ton of money on the more expensive treatments.

LMAO'd at noxema... but I think I'll try it. So my shopping list will be eczema, cetaphil and hydrocortisone cream?

if this small area itches but has a definate PAIN to it with little bumps could be shingles (not remembering now where you said it was) mine was along the waistline in the back. If this you have to get something from the dr to control.

Sounds good.

Don't rule out psoriasis. Of course, I hope you don't have it, but mild cases look nothing like all the horrible pictures on the internet. I just looked a couple up, and mine looks nothing like that.

I hope the noxema works. I swear by it!

Speak to the pharmacist. He may be able to recommend and OTC medication that may help temporarily.

Try Lanolin. You can get it for 9.99 at any drug store in the baby aisle - it'll say FOR BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS but - I have a bad patch on my eyelid, and that will help but I have to put it on daily. It looks gross so I do it at night. Helps because it's natural - made from the oil on sheep's wool. Being in a humid climate doesn't help - it has blown up since I moved to FL.

Also, I SWEAR by Cetaphil. Depending on the severity, it may help. You can get the tube for about 6.00 at Walmart - the jar is 12 or 13, but you shouldn't need that much. When I was 5 or 6 (am almost 21 now) I got an awful case of excema on my waist (may have been from the jeans I had, dunno) and my mom still has it. So, I don't think you need that much.

You should try the Turkish killer fish for psoriasis.

Lil update: the Cetaphil lotion is probably a miracle-worker. I used it and it alone 3 times a day for the last 4 or 5 days. So luckily I think I'm going to be saved from having to go to the doctor. The problem is almost entirely gone! I feel like shooting a commercial for this lotion.

That's great news!
